Here's the thing: finding the northern lights is an art. On day one, we took a tour and braved the cold for 3 hours. I did not realize how subtle it is. The camera, at the right setting, captures something much more vivid than what the human eye can see.  I'm sure in darker, colder, dryer places, the color can be as spectacular as what all the brochures show. However, on day 2, we rented a car and went on a serious hunt. Just as we were about to give up, absolutely mesmerizing green ribbons took up what seemed like the ENTIRE sky and danced above our heads like a light show at a rave (never been to a rave but I'm assuming). Our camera couldn't capture much because it was shifting too fast. Absolutely surreal!! My parents and I danced and clapped like 5-year-olds! I'd love to hear other people's experiences...
