Best looking and most underutilized building in all of DC. This is the Arts and Industries Building, which belongs to the Smithsonian. When I was first an intern (at the National Museum of American History) back in 2003, this was where the badge office was. Now, after extensive but still unfinished renovations, a special event space. I hope you can see it for yourself one day, inside and out. #washingtondc #smithsonian #architecture #historicbuildings

Fabulous friends, food and art! Tickets are available for our second African Art Awards Dinner Friday, October 27 at the Arts & Industries building in Washington D.C.
This year, we will recognize the powerful contributions of women who are changing the way our global community experiences the arts.
The 2017 honorees are Ghada Amer, Mary Sibande and Alice Walton. We are also excited to announce this year's guest chef: The Chew and Top Chef's Carla Hall! For tickets go to the 🔗in our IG bio.

Ghada Amer (pictured) is an Egyptian-born artist and activist whose dynamic practice spans mediums from embroidery to public gardens to stainless steel. Traditional notions of cultural identity, abstraction, and religious fundamentalism are upended in her gorgeous work.
