This morning's streaked sky. I arrived late at work to avoid protest action down the road. As I dilly-dallied at home trying to decide on the best alternate route I thought about what I love about the area I work. I love that it is a no frills working area, I love the skies & views of the city; I love the way two trees on the drive there meld together when viewed from the right angle to form a hybrid beauty; I love the rail bridges, pylons and intersections; I love the energy on the streets, the robustness of the place, the street vendor who knows me and my preferences. But today I was scared, burning tyres and barricades reminded me that the bubble is stretched and weakening. It scares me that many are willing to ignore the multitude, politicians and ordinary people are closing our eyes, living in the moment, pretending.
