Early Bird private lesson with Miss Eve Smith this morning! She's an awesome young kid with a bright future, so look out for her to make some waves! Thanks to @mikecalimbas for putting the #SubmitHarvey auction together and providing us with the opportunity to work together and make a difference in people's lives!
After 12 years as a Head Instructor, I've never had a large academy. All of that time, it's been a "side-gig" for me - always chasing that dream of growing it into something that I can be 100% devoted to.
As a result, there's never been much money that I've made teaching either. Several months along the way I was in the red, literally paying to teach my students. It would be easy to look at that and quit, because time is money, right? Wrong.
Time is life. From the deepest part of my core, I love Jiu-Jitsu. I love my students. I love watching them change their lives. I love watching their awe and amazement at new techniques - reminding me of myself years ago when I was them.
So why do I keep teaching when I haven't made any money or won any team trophies? Because I love it too much to fail. I love what jiu-jitsu gives me that you can't put a dollar amount on...it gives me life. OSS.
Back in the saddle again! Congrats to all of our students who competed this weekend at the Dallas Open...it was especially cool to see you guys that jumped in making this your first tournament! So proud of this bunch!!!
