When you have a home away from home....it feels so good to be able to have a strong group of badass women in one place. @soojint thanks for an amazing class and it’s always a giggle fest practicing next to you @kaylamarieyoga❤️ love all the people @citizenyoga
Missing all of the ladies from the 300 hour love you all
300tt: you all have such a special place in my 💗! Thanks for some of the richest convos, inspiring me with every question, handstand hop, practice class, and overall amazing vibes. I can’t wait to take all of your classes! @toddtesen and @iamcitizenyoga thanks for sharing your passion and dedicating your time to helping us grow.
Friends, if you’re ever in the Detroit, royal oak, or Bloomfield Hills area be sure to check out @citizenyoga! It is such an amazing place 🙏
Endings are always bittersweet. As one chapter ends you can use all the lessons and experiences to propel you forward to the next. So grateful for all those who have played a part in the story of my life, inspiring me to grow. 🙏🏽
The word of the day is KULA - sanskrit meaning ‘community’ ❣️ today i continue my calling in life to work with strong, inspiring, totally badass women. So excited to be stepping into a new adventure with @citizenyoga - i’ve got a really good feeling about this! #newtribewhodis
Just a few shots of @citizenyoga, my second class this week here!
Since moving up here it’s been a goal to find a place just like @mathappyyoga was for me in Dublin, and my BF surprised me with a package to this gem! So I’m going to try multiple styles & types. So far, i love how each instructor is different. The room is simple and rustic. The vibe is WARM and comforting. Both “blend” classes were challenging and focused on vinyasa and sun salutations. Very, very satisfied 😊
15 weeks of teaching, learning, laughing, crying, and stepping in when it’s most difficult. This group has shown me how strength grows from being vulnerable rather than making excuses for our instabilities. Thank you for your honesty, love, and dedication. This community has become my home ❤️
❤️communication leads to community, that is, to understanding, intimacy and mutual valuing. Rollo May❤️
So grateful for all of you. Couldn’t have asked for a better group of weirdos. So much love, openness, intimacy so that we can all go deeper into our selves. Thank you all for the memories, shared experiences, and being open to being open❤️ couldn’t have asked for a better kula. I love all of you so much.
None of these people knew they were walking into a campaign event. Tonight was my yoga fundraiser at Citizen Yoga, but usually there's a community class at the same time. It could have been an unpleasant surprise to find out your regular class was cancelled in lieu of a fundraiser. So you know what? We made it a community class. No donation required for entry. No expectation. After class, we all shared a glass of wine and had a great conversation about what "politics" has meant for them (some answers: seems like something that doesn't really affect or benefit me, it's too corrupt, it's too hard to be informed or know what's going on). I shared that to me, politics should be about people working to make other people's lives a little bit better. So what does that mean? What can a State Senator do? Turns out, a lot! We talked about healthcare, the ballot proposal to legalize and regulate marijuana like alcohol, and demystifying the whole process.
In the end, our campaign got a few contributions and a volunteer, but more importantly we turned an unexpected situation into an evening to connect with strangers and make "politics" a way to bring people together.
Huge thanks to @laurenraevg for teaching a killer class and scheming with me on the next one!
“It is your prime responsibility to acquire useful knowledge from others and to apply it appropriately. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel, but you do have to learn from those who did.” —Gary Ryan Blair
These past two and a half months have been so incredible. To join, become a part of, and find KULA -heart based community- with a group and become so close in such short time has been so powerful. Creating, connecting, expanding as individuals and together as a group.
Learn from others always. Take that knowledge and expand not just from your point of view but from another perspective. By doing so the growth you see will be so much more profound. To find this with a group of like and non like individuals you will start to connect as family and see how we are all one. I am not you, yet, I am you. The more we find our Kula, the more we can connect! How great would it be to connect Kula to Kula?! And what if, we could feel Kula with all beings world wide?! Let it grow. Everyone has wisdom to share. We just need to listen, absorb, and share. Are you ready to move the world?! Are you ready to Connect the Kula?! I am, and I’m ever so grateful for this amazing Kula who have helped me grow and expand! This experience has helped me grow into a teacher that I could only dream to become. So excited for the journey ahead. So excited to share and spread the knowledge I’ve learned as it expands within me over time.
What ever you do let yourself give into the experience fully. To create the connections that are like no other, allow yourself to succumb to the journey...together. That’s when Kula is created. That’s when we can truly take in the knowledge of others, apply it, and share in our own uniqueness.
Namaste 🙏 ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
There’s not many people who I love enough to walk outside in the snow for while only wearing yoga clothing in 25 degree Michigan winter weather JUST to snap a pic with.....these folks are one of the lucky few. 😉 I love my TT peeps. ❄️❤️🧘🏻♀️🧘🏻♂️🤸🏻♀️🤸🏻♂️

Before surgery I had to stop all physical activity until my doctors knew what was going on, and as a result I lost a lot of muscle weight...and for someone who’s been pretty athletic their whole life that was frustrating
During recovery I lost more weight which was even more frustrating...when you’re inactive and not eating as well as you used to but not gaining weight makes no sense! And many of you noticed and expressed concern...thank you all for the lovely messages and words of encouragement ❤️
But since my surgery my routine has completely changed. I really only do yoga now...no more weights, no more crazy cardio, and no more working out to the point of exhaustion. Maybe I’ll add some weight training back in in the future, but right now using my own body weight is working pretty well 😁
As a result my #strength , flexibility, and appearance (again) has completely changed. My balance is better (but still off cause I’m forever clumsy 😂) and I actually have strength in my “little bird arms”! 🐥 I’m starting to be able to get into poses I’ve never been able to my whole life!🤸🏼♀️
It’s amazing what the human body can do when you listen to it and allow it to heal! It is never lost on me how lucky I am 🙏🏻💪🏻❤️ #BetterThanYesterday#YogaGlow (which is really just #sweat and sleepiness) 🧘🏼♀️🕉 #Warrior#AVMsurvivor
