The Rosa Parks experience was very impactful. They use virtual reality and place you on the bus as Rosa Parks. Although I'm sure the language was toned down, you still get a sense of what happened that day
I had the opportunity to visit the Underground Railroad museum which was a reminder of not to forget about our past. Slavery was a business and many prominent banks today got their start with profits from the trade. As many as 200 slaves would be stashed in the pen. #blackhistory#knowyourhistory#africanamericanhistory
Each year, approximately 40,000 school children visit the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. While learning the history of chattel slavery they also learn the vital concept of freedom. They learn, first hand, the value of freedom and the need to secure it not simply for themselves, but for all.
These lessons are critical to our future and can’t be taught from a school book alone. The Freedom Center is an invaluable resource as we prepare these children to lead the world in the coming decades.
