I seriously love this grain!!! @wncmalt preparing the first batch of Seashore Rye from the 2017 harvest. This heirloom has such a complex flavor it ignites my taste buds whether it's in bread, whiskey, or beer! #heirloomgrains#craftmalt#riverbendmalthouse
The tactile and physical nature of working in the malt house blend and balance with occasional quiet moments to reflect, and as many times as I've held grain in my hands (at any stage of the process) it never fails to strike me as beautiful. Truly, we are all grass. Shot from inside the kiln. #craftmalt#craftmaltsters#wncmalt#inmyhand

While waiting, the older man chatted with me about the grain, his crops, and the process while sifting the Barley he had scooped up from the malting floor. It's fascinating how a malthouse's desire to partner with small local farms affects the community in many positive ways...including sustaining exceptional brews.
