What does it mean to blossom?🌸
This is "my orchid". I bought it at Home Depot when I was a junior in high school. When I went off to college, my dad took care of it and eventually stuck it in this tree in our backyard. (Did you know orchids are air plants?)🌸
This little plant has seen it all. Hurricane after hurricane — even Harvey and it's still there. It almost got thrown out with the debris from Harvey. My dad panicked, found it out on the curb with the other branches and put it back in its rightful place.
A few times a year, when it's in full bloom, my dad will take a photo and let me know how "my orchid" is doing. Consequently, I feel a weird connection to '"my orchid", because like this plant I've been able to weather the storm — but it goes even further than that. I believe that like some plants, some people can flower all year. Others, like me, have stretches of gestation followed by big moments of blooming.💐
The key is not hating yourself simply because your own cycles and processes look different from someone else. *Celebrate* the times you are in bloom and know that when you arent you aren't any less valuable, and it doesn't mean you won't blossom again.
