I have been so busy lately and crocheting nearly non-stop to keep up with the Christmas market. So last night I left my yarn and hooks in my booth and promised my littles that this morning and early afternoon would be all about crafting and cooking and simple Christmas pleasures.
I got up before everyone else and walked the dogs on crisp, crunchy, frost covered grass. I heated up the oven and filled it with orange slices to dry for our tree. I started a big pot of heart rosemary pork stew for our lunch. Now the children are stringing popcorn and cranberries, I'm sipping on roasted chestnut coffee with honey and milk. The whole house is filled with scent of orange and simmering soup.
It's easy to forget to stop and enjoy in this busy season. To get lost and overwhelmed with everything that needs to be done. The shopping, the wrapping, the orders going out, the decorating. But I don't want to miss the magic. This morning, this is the magic.
You guys. The best mail days are the ones that bring more oils. I was so excited these came before I had to leave this afternoon. I'm especially excited about cheer and forgive because I've been a smidge grumpy lately trying to keep up with everything. Those are going on my diffuser cuff asap!
Oh and that beautiful big bottle of frankincense oil? Totally free. That's a $93 value!! 😱 I use this oil every day.
Do you want free oils and 25% off retail prices too? Shoot me a message and I'll answer any questions you might have!
It's quite cold here today. The kids have spent the morning dipping pretzel rods in chocolate, walking on ice and watching Christmas movies. I've cleaned and made a big pot of herbed chicken noodle soup. Chock full of rosemary, sage, thyme, bay leaf, garlic and onion it's the perfect soup to warm up our bellies and souls.
Baking and paper snowflake making this afternoon.
I woke up and I glanced out the window. The sight of pinks and reds streaking the sky was enough to make me jump out of bed and run outside barefoot (brrr) to snap a few photos and stand for a brief (cold) moment watching the sky.
Had a late night last night with my mum @dawn563 but fortunately this morning I have motivate (my oils came yesterday!) and a full pot of coffee. I don't leave for the market until 2:30 this afternoon and my whole morning plans include working on orders and playing with new yarn.
Did I mention I got new yarn?!? #sunrise#sky#skyscape#trees#sacred#wintersunrise#red#redsky#nature#mothernature#landscape#landscapephotography#pnw#pacificnw#homestead
All the Christmas chaos. Old fashion egg nog. Christmas tree cakes. Sparkly ornaments. Twinkle lights. Kittens into everything.
The house isn't perfectly clean. We struggled through the morning. I'm still really exhausted. But it's ok. It's good even. There is beauty here and I need to stop and appreciate it. I only have three more Christmases after this one with all six of my children still children. I'll be damned if I'm going to waste a single moment worrying about perfection or appearances.
I'm roasting up some root veggies to go along baked tilapia for lunch today and this beet was just too pretty not to take a photo!
Since I have to leave at 2pm every day to get my booth set up on time, we've been switching lunch and dinner, big meals mid-day and sandwiches in the evening. Makes things easier on all of us with me away in the evenings.
