This. This is real life in my house.
It is a rare day when there are *not* extra people here. Adults, kids, both... We almost always have friends in our home.
Coffee. All day.
Half eaten food because we get distracted.
Crafting. I wish I could say it's a lovely practice, all laid out with care but it's more like sparkly, chaotic fun. There's a four year old so there's spilled paint. And kittens. Who stepped in the paint and then went running through the house.
Teenage boys who just want to game.
There's laughter. Oh my goodness, so much laughter. And ♥ to ♥ talks about big, small, and medium stuff. There's solidarity. There's food and drink.
My family revolves around drinks. It came from my momma. When you walk in my front door I am immediately offering you a drink. The ones who say no thank you don't make sense to me. How can we have a talk without a mug of coffee or a tall glass of iced tea? The ones who come back are the ones who dive right into my cupboards, eagerly picking out their drink of choice. The ones who start brewing more coffee because the pot ran out. The ones who bring along their own mug because they know I will fill it.
I sometimes look at feeds here and think how pretty and lovely your spaces are. Mine will never measure up. But that's ok because I find beauty in the chaos. Our home is warm and safe, a haven for ourselves and for others. How lovely it is to make a home with the ones I love.
Oh man, I woke up with *motivation* this morning! Plus feelings of peace, joy and content.
I got busy immediately, making black tea and spicing it with cinnamon, nutmeg and honey. It felt like a kitchen kind of morning so I braved the cold morning to gather some herbs from what's left in the Garden and got some herbal cough syrup simmering. While that bubbled softly, I mixed up some pumpkin cheesecake bread.
Now the bread is cooling, the cough syrup is bottled and I'm clearing space for creating today with a friend. Such a nice start to the day.
I missed yesterday's photo challenge, on my plate. Oops! I got very involved with making things and by the time dinner rolled around, all I wanted to do was EAT IT!
But I heated up leftovers for my lunch today so I grabbed a pic then!
I am not kidding when I tell you that I make the best mac and cheese *ever*. Ever. I use three kinds of cheese, roasted garlic, tomatoes, maple bacon, smoke flavor and it's topped with crumbled garlic butter ritz and melted butter.
It. Is. So. Good.
It was even better today. Perfect fall food after spending time outside in the cold.
All through the grocery store today, my four year old stopped everyone we came across to tell them she was going to be a witch when she grows up.
Later today she helped me put together this prosperity oil.
1 tbls fresh basil, leaves gently torn
1 tbls fresh rosemary leaves
1 tsp grated nutmeg
1/2 cup carrier oil (we use grapeseed)
Mix them all together in a glass jar and then hold the jar in both hands, close your eyes and visualize yourself having everything you need. Place your oil in a cool, dark place for 3-5 days and then strain the herbs out. For use in spellwork, money attraction spells, or to dab on yourself before magic work.
@lovewildtribe has a photo challenge. Today's is favorite oil blend. I prefer to do my herbal work myself, so this is mine.
Notice in the background my hawthorne berry infusion is almost ready. I added cloves today. It will be ready to make shrubs next week!
It is possible that my pasture lit up in the golden sunset light is one of my favorite sights ever. I hope our new property is just as lovely in the fading light. I think the only thing I will miss about this property is my weeping willow friends. I shall have to plant new ones.
This month is so full, I'm almost intimidated going into it. Our Christmas market starts in just three weeks and it's going to keep me hopping! Holidays with family and friends, hot coffee, bonfires, cozy quilts, boots and sweaters, thick soups and hearty homemade breads, crocheting warm winter wear, holiday crafts... What an amazing month this is going to be!
