"Only what you take with you." These words drift through my mind. Coyote laughs at me. He tells me to be clever like him. He says he will charm Konochana Sakuya Hime. He sashays, his figure glimmering from coyote to man. He puffs his chest out. He is a handsome man, and I know he has only been playing the fool too keep my spirits high, but even I doubt he can outwit the Volcano's Cherry Blossom princess. I brace for Konochana Sakuya Hime's, fury. But she remains silent. It's Fūjin who answers the call, a gust of wind rips me off my feet but I clutch to the rocky edge. Coyote let's out a surprised yip as he tumbles down a few feet. His dignity a little by, he sjifts back to his four legged form. The mountain will only be met with honour, not deception. Coyote bows his head, he knows to well the importance of respect.
I push myself higher and higher against the elemental storm. My mind shedding the fear that lives beneath my skin. Like walking through the valley of death, I let not to anger the spirit of fire that lies below. Voices drift in and out on the turbulent wind and I know there are more than just my comrades and I who wander the mountainside.
