The Fire 🔥- got a bit too close for comfort today as I passed Ventura. Everything covered in ash like it was snowing. Passed a caravan of firefighters geared up to take this thing on. The word Heroes gets thrown around way too easily these days - but these guys were the real deal. Give it hell. #venturafire#californiafires#california#pch1
The irony of this man's 'hated' shirt was way too much because I see nothing but love in this city and church. Amidst a devastating week for families across the state, Mission Ventura popped up on my explore page. It featured views of rooms full of donated items. I headed over to check it out and was met with 12 theatre rooms (not exaggerating) full of food, blankets, clothes, kitchen supplies, toys, shoes, all the like. These beautiful people had put out a PSA for donations. I looked around and saw church members walking hand in hand with families who had lost everything and filling trolleys with supplies from the aisles. Others were serving free barbeques to tired, worn out, on edge kids. I saw huddles of people sobbing on the floor, praying for soul restoring. I just saw so much love. This community and the hearts within it blew my socks off. And tonight we all came together and hoped. And cried. And hoped some more.
