Here’s the next bout in the tournament to crown the greatest game in my upcoming book The Minds Behind the Games!
And Remember, this is a loser's bracket matchup, meaning the loser is eliminated.
The way it works is simple- every day a matchup will appear on the page and all you have to do is vote for what you think the better game is. The next night, I'll announce the winner!
The Tale of the Tape:
Wonder Boy in Monster Land: One of the most underrated RPGs of the 8-Bit-era, Monster Land took the game past its platformer roots and made a huge impact on the genre.
The Suffering: Using a third-person view and first-person shooter controls, The Suffering plays different and thanks to an awesome story as well, it and its sequel sold over a million copies across the Xbox and PlayStation 2.
Congrats to NHL Faceoff for advancing to the next round in the tournament to crown the best game in my upcoming book, The Minds Behind the Games! It'll now face off with Doom in the next round. Boy and His Blob is now eliminated from the competition.

#top31October#13 : The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (PS3, 2006). After not finding much in the RPG genre after I got my PS3, I decided to go on a little hunt. Went to my nearest game store (a GameStop, of course) and asked the guy working for some tips. He said “oh you have to play Oblivion if you’re an RPG guy”. He asked if I ever played Morrowind and I said no and he said “doesn’t matter, this game kicks ass.” Bought the GOTY edition with a guide and brought it home. I played a few hours of this game on my old TV via composite before realizing that I was missing the beauty that is HDMI gaming. So, yes, this is THE game that made me go and buy and HDTV for gaming. I remember being ASTONISHED by the level of video quality. As for the actual game, I went nuts for it. The level of depth the world had was unlike anything I had ever played. I really felt lost in another world. I played it religiously, along with all the bonus content until I beat the game. I still to this day prefer this to Skyrim, as you can tell by my #top31October ratings. I really hope to revisit this game soon and get lost in its world again. #tesivoblivion#elderscrollsoblivion#ps3
When you are working on a project as wide as this one, there are days when everything is uphill. Today I was, maybe for the first time, aware of all the work that remains to be done, and it is a lot. But I have the determination to carry it out! Let's do it! 281 remaining monsters.
