An 18 month old Harlean Carpenter photographed with her parents, Montclair Carpenter and Jean Harlow Carpenter in Kansas City, 1912. Her parents would separate exactly 10 years after this photo was taken.
I present to you this liquid moonlight 1930s dream of a dress with thee best collar! Silk and crepe, she shines and glimmers like a seal in the night. I swear I steamed her, but then wrinkled her again on the drive to the shoot! Heh, oopsies! 😳 embroidered lace cuffs that snap, and snap closures. This darling piece is size XS/S with a 29" waist and 34" bust. I recommend for smaller busts, as you can see it's a bit too snug on me and would be more ideal on a smaller frame. Has one spot on the crepe neck detail where it looks like something was once sewn on. Priced accordingly! $80 + shipping. #1930s#1930sdress#1930sfashion#1930sstyle#vintagedtessesforsale#vintageforsale#vintagesilk#antiqueclothing#30sdress#silkdress#magicmirrorvintage
Lombard, who went on to star in classic comedies Twentieth Century and My Man Godfrey, was a rising star in silent movies when at 18 she was in a horrific car crash. -
“I came out through the windshield,” recalled Lombard. “They took 25 stitches in my face.” The lacerations left scars near her eye and on her left cheek, and 20th Century Fox dropped her contract.
Starting again at the bottom as a Mack Sennett Bathing Beauty, the blue-eyed blonde was ordered to lose weight and was cast in a series of forgettable movies. -
“All the time I was making 17 flops in a row. I was scared to death they were going to call my bluff,” she said. “There is no one else on the screen who has had more consistently bad pictures than I.”
