[California Crisis] So, this OVA is quiiiiiite the hidden gem, and is deserving of two or three posts in succession, because I really can't help myself. This straight-to-VHS movie is what Japan imagined California was like back in the mid-80s, amidst a nonsensical action plot based around an orb that looks like a bowling ball as the MacGuffin. There is a jammin' 80s pop soundtrack all by Miho Fujiwara, which upon thinking about it, I realize might be the reason for this movie's existence - as a vehicle for her music. I think this was her only solo album and had been lead vocalist of Chocolate Lips. Anyway, awesome music, nonsensical story, and of course, this posterized, arcade-cabinet art style that has never been done before or since, haha. Truly, a singular film. Enjoy the main characters being chased through a night club, before they decide to stop to have a drink... while still being chased.
