Saint of the Day
When Canute’s brother Harold the Idle died, having not achieved much, Canute became king of Denmark. Unlike his brother, Canute was both virtuous and ambitious. He was also firm and dealt very efficiently with the pirate, Eigill of Bornholm.
He overstretched himself however when he tried to commandeer England from the well established William the Conqueror. The adventure was unsuccessful and very costly, and marks the end of the age of Viking power.
His subjects were not happy and there was a coup - while saying Mass in the church of St Alban on the island of Funen, Canute and his entourage were slaughtered by merciless rebels instructed by his treacherous brother Olaf.
God avenged Canute’s murder with a famine and other calamities visited upon Denmark.
St Canute is the grandnephew of Canute the Great who had an infamous face-off with the incoming tide and ruled England for twenty years.
Canuto is the Spanish word for a marijuana cigarette and so Canute’s day is celebrated by Spain’s 'Legalise Marijuana’ campaign.

Und schon wieder ist unser Bad ein kleines bisschen hübscher geworden. Frisch verputzt sieht das doch gleich besser aus❤
