I grew up pretty athletic (thank you skating and gymnastics for keeping me still kinda flexible🙏). I remember when I stopped figure skating, I felt like a void had been left in my life. It was around then I jumped into weightlifting and not too long after that, bodybuilding competitions. Don’t get me wrong, I loved my time spent bodybuilding but I do miss the rush of being on the ice or seeing how big a drop I could go off with my skis. I think that’s part of what brought me to fitness in the first place. Even if I wasn’t doing anything athletic in the traditional sense, I knew it would make it easier to jump back in. Ok I’m rambling and procrastinating going to the gym, but I’m also feeling way too optimistic after realizing I still kinda have it 🙈. (Ps - new YouTube vid coming tomorrow morn. WHAT I EAT IN A DAY - Rest Day Edition 🌞 ⠀
What does your gal eat when she doesn't train ? I used to think : "reduce carbs on rest days, because you are not burning them". ❌ Lol. Kids, the brain burns more carbs than your body ever will.
SO NOURISH IT AS IT DESERVES OK.
Yes, I usually eat higher fat during rest days - but I don't see it now as a "low-carb-day". Again, I just do not like how this messes up with my brain. I would end up waiting for high carb days like Christmas. ⠀
Which meal appeals you most ??

I came home and tried to do the BBG beginner week 1 workout before getting halfway through and absolutely floundering. I’ve never been so disappointed in myself! I can’t even finish a 28 minute workout! I really struggled and I think I need to start small and build up to it. Has ANYONE got any suggestions on how to ease into exercise? As someone who has never done any exercise, I’m desperate to start somewhere but I’m struggling today 😭😭

Dinner tonight was one of our favourite meals out of the @kayla_itsines 28 Day Healthy Eating and Lifestyle Guide - Jerk Chicken 🤤 the chicken is marinated in a whole lot of spices and flavours to jerk those taste buds (classic gag 😏) and is served with a brown rice salad (with some spinach, cherry tomatoes, red onion, garlic and salt/pepper tossed through), mango salsa (a tin of mangoes, since mangos aren’t really around right now, lime juice, red onion and salt/pepper) and a Greek yoghurt, lime and mint dressing 👍🏼 also had a wee side of green beans mmmm 😍 I asked for this book for Christmas last year and may have used it a couple times between then and October, but since then it has been a hit and there are still many recipes that have been tabbed to be made 📖 December is always a pretty mucky month for me with work, summer sports kicking in, tidying up the year and of course Christmas, so I’ll be a little MIA here and there. However, it’ll be all go in the New Year 🎉 I’ll be ticking off most of the recipes in the book, whipping up a few of my own, and hopefully be back on my feet, feeling 110% ✔️ Hope you make the most of this week and look after yourselves X
🏋🏻 PRE/POST WORKOUT NUTRITION 🏋🏻⠀
🍐 Do you ever struggle with what to eat before you workout? What about after the workout is complete?⠀
🥗 If that’s you, then this post should be quite helpful (as a reference point) for pre/post workout nutrition.⠀
🍉 Generally speaking (this isn’t the case for everyone), but some sort of carbohydrates make sense as a pre-workout meal to help you fuel your activity, as carbs are the primary energy providers for us humans.⠀
🍊 Personally, I like most fruits for this! Why? They taste great, are fun to eat, are light on the stomach and low-calorie! Strawberries (as you know) are my go-to.⠀
🥜 I also like almonds as a pre-workout snack because they don’t take up a lot of room in your stomach, but they are energy dense and have some healthy dietary fat to support the mental acuity you’ll need for your workout, and your day ahead.⠀
🍗 Post-workout meals are a little different, at least for me. (Note: a lot of this is personal preference, so bare with me).⠀
🍕 After I workout, I’m typically pretty hungry! And while a protein shake might do the trick (and sometimes it does), I often like to eat a relatively large meal of a lean protein (with some healthy fats), a bunch of veggies and some sort of carbohydrate to aid protein absorption post workout.⠀
🌊 I also make sure to hydrate, pre-workout, intra-workout and post-workout as well. Because hydration is a major key!!!⠀

⏰ Monday morning. Alarm went off at 6.45am - still pitch black outside.
💦 I could hear a heavy pitter patter of rain on my bedroom window (I’ve a Velux window above my bed so I can hear exactly how strong the rain is!)
🤔 I thought, right: 99% of people won’t get up now for a run outside on this dark, wet Monday morning. How much of a phycological boost would that be if I did? I’m out there, winning, when everyone is feeling sorry for themselves in bed.
💁🏼♂️ Winning on a Monday morning. The struggle, quieting the voices in my head telling me to sack it off, grinding when everyone else won’t, earning my breakfast calories. I’d feel fcking great about myself for the rest of day - week even! Go me!
😇 ....Then I thought….ahhhh fuck that I’ll have an extra half an hour in bed, I’m not an absolute idiot. 😂😂😂
