Pink is the color of healing. If seen in someones astral plane, it means that person has the capacity for holding much love for his/her fellow beings. Some of the tests that were done at NASA many years ago included using various shades of pink material to cover a person in the area that person needed healing. Wrapped around the pant leg of someone who had broken a bone, for example, or on a person with a chest cold. Turns out color could be used for many types of healing depending on what was wrong, even extracting toxins out of a wound. Many healing art practitioners use colored cystals as well for healing, like pink quartz. A colored cloth with even a small crystal on it helps to transmit the energy of a particular color into the patient. Tests like these were done as experiments, for example, if an astronaut was far from home and lacked specific kind of medical care for an emergency. Some astronauts carried small colored lights of various colors to help them cope with many of the problems of spaceflight and long term exposure to radiation from space. You probably won't find this kind of data on any website, but many practices were used from very ancient Chinese , Egyptian and Sumerian scrolls and literature. Amazing rock art petroglyphs in Gold Butte. This was one of my favorite Nevada adventures. There are many layers of history in Gold Butte, even currently as it was the location of the Bundy armed standoff in 2014, a case that was very recently dismissed by Nevada District Court after a “universal sense of justice had been violated.” Federal prosecutors withheld evidence from the defense and additional missteps and corrupt actions all along the way gave more weight to the position of the Bundys that they were being conspired against. Gold Butte and the Bundy case are visual indicators of huge tensions playing out in the western states and resolve is yet to be seen. As a recent re-arrival to Nevada, I’m doing my best to educate myself on the issues and formulate my own positions by reading, visiting the sites, and attending public meetings. What can be agreed upon is the irreplaceable historical, cultural, and spiritual value of these sacred locations.

We all have our favorite and not so favorite roads we travel in our neck of the woods. Here in N. California, surrounded by mountains of all shapes and sizes, many times the freeways are as dangerous and crazy as the back roads. One of our go to the store roads is Shasta River Canyon road. Thought it might be fun to show you a few pics of various parts of this awesome road cut through mountain ridges and fording gulches and rivers.

In N. California, there are actually two sources of the famed Sacramento River. One I have posted before, a deep clear flowing river which starts high in Sacramento River Canyon behind Mt. Shasta. The other source starts somewhat close to the base of Mt.Shasta literally flowing out of rocks and gushing forward in cascades of water. This was once a small settlement and I have posted in the third pic one of the old lodges. Mt. Shasta falls.

Fun fact: National Monuments provide FREE access to stunning sights!

They provide protection of natural, cultural, or historical features. These Painted Hills are silhouettes of natural beauty. It’s hues of red often refer to a wet, swampy past, and its yellow hues indicate arid Times. These shades almost seem angry in its geographical past. It’s analogical to diving into a self driven journey. The struggle of one, with the help of many. The drive disappears, but one day it will return. Never forgetting the journey of the struggle.

Looking down to the valley I live in, Hornbrook, California from the Siskiyou Mountains. In the far distance is the continuation of the Cascade Range, the Klamath Mountains make up the smaller foothills, and the Siskiyous, coming from the coast up the Klamath River, make a turn right here north into Oregon. The Klamath River here has come out of S. Oregon close to Crater Lake and continues from here down into the deep mountain canyons on the way to the Pacific Ocean.

2017 was... impressionable. Wouldn’t say it was my favorite year, could even possibly say it was the worst year in awhile. Maybe that’s because it’s easy to fear change, and the challenge can be overwhelming. We did lose our rescue dog, Snow, and it’s very possible that we felt as if we hit rock bottom at that point. Sitting in silence, wondering if we could have prevented it, and how to live on with him still with us. That breaking point, September 1st, was the day we broke from tunnel vision. Realizing we needed to make a change.
Although, it doesn’t help when it’s the year of the Rooster, and folks, that is my Chinese New Year. It makes me feel better to State the blame on my Chinese sign, but it’s truly just reactionary.
2018 will be the best year yet. It’s the year that goals will be achieved, and you and I will make a difference.
My goal is to put the outdoors first, and integrate that ideology into every aspect of the waking day.
It’s the year that we overcome. Overcome our challenges and see what kind of future we want as a collective.

Here's to a better, kinder, healthier 2018 to everyone. I want to celebrate the diversity of Mother Earth and ALL her sentient beings across our planet as well as the incredible universe we live in. So much strife, hardship, crazy politics and everything else happening in the world, it's really good to hang on to what makes each of us unique, learning to be better human beings first. The rest will take care of itself. Thanks so much for all the wonderful gifts from all of you. Your beautiful photographs, kind words, sage advice and giving me help on being courageous in facing the hardships of life. So I CELEBRATE each and every one of you each day as we all move forward on our own spaceship in the cosmos. And a big thanks to our Publiclands that help me stay sane. All the best Kelly.

Theres alot of different geologically aged mountains in the N. California area close to S. Oregon. Parts of the Klamath Mountains are probably the oldest with worn down ridge tops, like you have here. This area is one of the largest fossil bearing areas in the whole United States and several places you can see old clam shells and other creatures that were part of a shallow ocean millions of years ago.
