Bom Jesus do Monte. Braga Portugal.
Overlooking the city of Braga, this sanctuary stands on the Espinho Mountain. It is composed by the main church and a chapel Viae Crucis basically, but it is often recognized by its monumental zigzag Baroque stairway that climbs 116 meters. In this project, architecture is extremely related to the landscape, when making use of the place's relief, vegetation, rocks and water. The first indication of a chapel over the hill dates from the 14th century, but the new church was designed by Carlos Amarante between 1784 and 1834.
