I'm back! And hopefully to stay for a little while. Sometimes life gets overwhelming and posting on Instagram takes a backseat when it comes to priorities. Life has thrown a LOT of changes at me lately which have kept me super busy and distracted from the land of Social Media. That being said- one of the first of many announcements is that Bobby and I got engaged a couple weeks ago! ⠀
I met Bobby very briefly at a wedding I was shooting. After getting to know me a little bit, the groom was convinced I'd be a great fit for one of his best friends/groomsmen and the plot was made to introduce us. 2 years and 10 days later, he asked me to be his life-long adventure buddy at the camping area where we had our first day- and of course I SAID YES! ⠀
Also for those of you wondering about the ring, I didn't want a diamond. They're just not my style. But a Figure 8 is a nod to my love for climbing and the fact that these knots only cinch down on themselves when pulled. Yay for cheesy metaphors! And thanks to @alison_winnard for snapping a few shots for us! 🙌☺️ #engagementphotos#manofmydreams#adventurebuddy
You probably already noticed that I have a logo in the shape of a moose. I have been in love with moose since I was young. I met my first moose during my first Alaska visit over 15 years ago, and I pet my first moose just a few years ago! When I created my first Instagram account I didn`t know how it would turn out. So, I started with a moose theme first. It turned into a #ilovemoose account that grew to be so big and attract thousands of moose lovers from all over the world!
To see more of wildlife moose photos and my second biggest love follow my @moosefoto.
My love of moose doesn`t stop. Several years ago I received a box from Santa, and guess what!? It was a stuffed moose and a very cute book inside. The name of the book is “If You Give A Moose A Muffin”. So, it didn`t take me long to choose a name for my new friend. Somehow, I am not the only one who loves him. Right now, he has almost 4,000 followers on Instagram! It is very cute when Muffin receives postcards and Christmas presents from all over the world. Do you want to know more about Muffin and his adventures? You can check him and his friends out his website www.MuffinTheMoose.com or @muffin_the_moose.
As we head into our last wedding weekend of the season, I'm going to miss seeing moments like this! 💚🍇🍃 #rivergardenweddings#Repost @sarahfoscophoto (@get_repost)
I have so many favorites from this beautiful day!
No joke it took every ounce of willpower we had not to post this killer shot last night when we got it. Chelsey and her girls are perfection. 📷: @veronica.sparks_photography 🌷: @flintwoodfloral 💒: @thebarnatevergreenmemorialpark #bohobride
So I've been shooting these beautiful weddings all season, and I'm slightly ashamed at my lack of posting them. But let's be honest, I've just been trying to survive! And now that things have significantly slowed down, I want to start posting again and catching up, so get excited!
Sometimes, a mountain wedding will be completely sunny one moment, and then rained and snowed on the next. Now, I'm not talking about simple rain and snow. I'm talking about a downpour and a blizzard. Michelle and Chris rolled with the punches and laughed through every part of what was thrown their way. They're off to a great start in marriage! Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Edlin!
Five years ago, I started the most exciting chapter of my life. In 2012, I was facing some major personal challenges and struggling to find purpose in my life professionally. All I knew was flowers made me happy and designing was all I wanted to do. I was so good at it. It became an obsession and I treated it as a glorified hobby that first year. And truly, I liked what I was doing before, but I completely fell in love with designing in a way that was new to me. In 2013, I started my business, while still working at my full time job. I didn’t care that I was working 80 to 90 hours each week, or pulling all nighters to get designs made for clients weddings on Saturday, I loved everything about what I was doing. Not only did I love it, but other people loved it and wanted me to do flowers for their weddings too. The business grew that year, and it got to the point where I had to transition careers fully. I opened a studio in Chicago, knowing the risks I was taking. It was a huge leap of faith and completely terrifying, especially in Chicago! But my dad always told me, “When you love to do something, just put your head down and go” and that’s exactly what I did. Over the last few years, I’ve been fortunate enough to work with some of the most incredible clients and talented vendors in some of Chicago’s most beautiful wedding venues. I’m so thrilled to be transitioning my business to Denver at the end of this year, and YES! We are now booking for 2018 weddings in Colorado! The new website will be launched next month, and I can’t wait to share what La Rue is all about. For now you can visit us in the link above and send me a message to tell me about your wedding or just to say hello. I’m so excited to meet you and look forward to learning more about your big day.

High contrast highlight lowlight. This is such a fun color and an updated version of the old school chunky highlights. My dear friend Audrey loves a more high contrast color so this time I highlighted her in foils with @schwarzkopfusa BlondeMe using weaves and slices and low-lighted her with a combo of @redken Shades EQ in 3G and 6NB. Toned her with shades in 9v and clear

Congratulations to sweet, Miss Bethany on finding her dress with us today! She knew it was “the one” the moment she tried it on! The second time around, tears flowed, and she said YES! We are so grateful for you, Bethany! 💝
So I photographed a vegan wedding. And can I just say it was such a beautiful experience. I am not sure if any of you guys know this, but I went vegan this year and it has been the most mind-altering, heart-opening, all around life changing decision I have ever acted on. There's a lot (as in a LOT) to say about it. But mostly I want to sum up the fact that there were a lot of factors that went into this decision. We, the public, are rarely truly informed of the damage left in the wake of our purchases, and when I learned about the environmental and health impacts, it was a game changer. I also love animals (don't we all?) ... but for my whole life until now, cognitive dissonance stood between the term "animal cruelty" and any sort of contribution role I played in it. So when I began to learn about the unfathomable cruelty fated to millions of furry, loving creatures every single day, it totally ruined me. It's a kind of sadness I'd never experienced. But it inspired me to do more. And let me tell you the label "animal activism" was suddenly credited with so much more value than ever before. These people I had once seen as hippies/outcasts/all other stereotypes we have deemed them to be in this society abruptly became massively impactful altruists. They are the ones who really see what is happening and do not hide behind the veil of ignorance. A member at the wedding quoted Ghandi "You can judge a nation by how they treat their animals". It took me a moment to ponder the truth in this. But then it took hold of me, because I realized that the disconnected relationship we have developed with animals only points to the broken relationship we have with ourselves. When we do not see the beauty in our relationship to this place we temporarily co-exist, we dilute it into something so unnatural and so far from its full potential that we cannot possibly live the beautiful lives we want to live. Such a memorable event with such fascinating people. Thanks for having me @thetreekisser •

#weddingtip This may be a "duh" to some, but sometimes you're so excited to use your new name, you don't think about it until you get to the airport with your passport and ticket in different names! #advicebyAmy
Heather, thank you for trusting me and letting me pose you like this, even though I know you felt awkward
You are gorgeous, and I know I'm not the only one who could agree!
Double tap if you think Heather made a stunning bride!
