I could not even begin to count the number of hours (and tokens) I spent on this game. Super stoked to see it in the new Stranger Things trailer!

As seen in the latest "Stranger Things 2" trailer: "Dragon's Lair", 1983 animated arcade game created by Don Bluth.

I obsessed over this game for many years. It was groundbreaking for its time; the animation was state-of-the-art for an '80s video game.
The gameplay itself is shallow, with Dirk the Daring needing to move or act at precisely the right time and in the right sequence. No doubt to save on costs and extend the game, whole sections of it were repeated, with the images just flipped from one side to the other.
The damsel in distress, Princess Daphne, is considered one of the greatest video game 'hotties' of all time. Unfortunately the game's creators made her character even more shallow than the gameplay itself. Giving her some brains and a bit of sass wouldn't have been that difficult, would it?
Despite its flaws, this game is a classic. The animation fuelled my young imagination at a time when I was also getting into fantasy role playing. It still holds a place in my heart, and no doubt does the same for the Duffer Brothers. It was great to see this in the new trailer for Stranger Things season 2!
What are your thoughts on this game, and what formats have you played it in?
I just received my backer rewards yesterday from Don Bluth's "Dragon's Lair: The Movie" pitch presentation project!!! 😃😃😃 I was so happy to receive this right after my birthday! It includes some Dragon's Lair merch, a thank you postcard signed by both Don Bluth & Gary Goldman, a signed print of Anastasia from the film of the same name, and finally, an actual drawn frame of Dirk the Daring from the movie pitch they've been working on! 😊💞 An actual Don Bluth drawing in my hands with a certificate of authenticy! As someone who is a huge fan of this living animation legend, I proud to have backed this project and be a part of something amazing to help the animator who helped shape me into the artist I am today.
Thank you, Don Bluth & Gary Goldman! I wish you two the best for the Dragon's Lair pitch. ❤
⚡️⚡️SOLD⚡️⚡️AMan 1983 ruled! Vintage Dragon's Lair merch is so hard to find....here's a very nice thermos for your collection! Scroll through the pictures. The graphics are great but just a couple of light scratches to some of them. This is one of the nicer thermoses I've seen for this line. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
