Super proud of this Mallard drake. I have been hunting 4 duck seasons but today was only the second time I have gone completely on my own. I hadn’t been in the blind but a few minutes and was setting up. Out of nowhere this mallard locks up right in front of the blind. I missed my first shot in my rush and he flew straight over the blind towards the buck brush behind the blind. I turned around and shot again facing backwards, which isn’t always a successful shot for me. I watched him fold and drop from the sky! I knew with him being so big and only one shot that most likely he wasn’t dead and was going to swim when he hit the water. I jumped in the boat and headed in that direction. I found him about 60 meters behind the blind trying to swim away. One more final shot and he was mine. I WAS SO PROUD! ~All on my own~☺️ #duckhunter#mallard#4curls#duckhunting#duckhunt#drake#girlswhohunt#allonmyown#theduckhuntress
Sustained winds at 30 MPH, gusting into the 40s... Pros: I love hunting in the wind!
Cons: The wind always seems to blow from where I’m parked. Walking into the wind with decoy bags, duck straps and any other gear is not so fun.
