~ Our diaper free journey ~
We've been practicing elimination communication since Bodhi was 5 months old. For those who aren't aware of EC, it's a gentle way to respond to a baby's hygiene needs, specifically them relieving themselves.
Up until about a month and a half ago, we were still diapering Bodhi when we ran errands. And one day I decided to just stop! He'd been diaper free when at people's homes (and at night) for almost 9 months. He knew the sign language, he already had a word for his potty, and it was up to him to tell me, and me to listen and understand for when he needed to go when we were out. I brought his little potty with us every where we went. Before & after we'd go inside a store or play at the park, I'd ask him and put him on to see if he needed to go. Yes we had accidents, yes we STILL have accidents. But they are fewer and fewer. I am SO happy we've stuck with it for so long, because as a 16 month old he is completely diaper free, and actually telling me he needs to go. (So sweet, In the morning it's always some milky first and then he signs and says "pa-pa.") We've lessened our environmental impact all this time, AND highly deepened our connection with Bodhi by understanding his signals and cues since we began this journey.
I definitely recommended to any one out there with little ones to practice EC 🙏 it's never too late OR too early to start.
Another week down! I can't believe this year is almost over. I had a pretty easy week but I think that was to make up for the craziness that is this one coming. BUT my husband is coming home for Christmas so I can't complain. ♥️
Lately, most of my toddler pics have been action shots unless he’s sleeping but... you can catch the blur that is underwear!! Starting on week 3 of no diapers except for nighttime - and I haven’t changed a wet one in weeks. Even that is just a precaution on my part☺️
The Society. Ever since my first ever NJ competition, Defining Rhythm 2013, y'all caught my eyes and I was never able to look away. I told myself, "After I graduate college, if there is any team I want to be a part of, it has to be Society." Fast forward a few years to 2016, I had the opportunity to work with Kas, Bngs, Rosey and Sierra in my One Time Comin' video. It was that moment I knew, I had to audition for this team ASAP. This team is by far the most humbling experience I've had. Y'all 'put me on something' forreal. Taught me there really is no limit to dance; that dance goes as far as one takes it. Broke me out of my little bubble I was stuck in for the longest time, teaching me how to bounce, flow and rock with music and of course, letting that bass and beat knock. The moment I joined this team was the moment I knew, "I found a group I can get down with forreal." I'm writing this post to confidently brag and boast about this team to my friends and family. These individuals don't do what they do for fame, money or anything other than the sole purpose of enjoying each-other's company and representing what Society is about. This team is raw, real and deserve recognition for what they do.
Thank you all for a year I will never forget. Thank you for allowing me to share my vision on stage with y'all. Hyped for what's to come our way and for many memories to be stored. Les get it! #thesocietynj#prelude#ec#eastcoastdancecommunity#allaboutthebenjamins#puffdaddy
