Our last stop on our #greatamericanroadtrip was the Crazy Horse monument. It's often passed up for Mount Rushmore but with them being less than twenty minutes from each other there is no excuse to miss it!
Construction on the mountain began June 3rd, 1948 and is still undergoing creation today. The memorial receives no federal funding and relys on donations and visitors.
Day 12 and coming to the end of the #greatamericanroadtrip
Watching the videos in the visitors center on how much work went into creating Mount Rushmore is just insane.
Does anyone else have a love for visitors centers? I love my time at any of them for the the sheer amount of information and resources available. It really opens up history for me being able to learn from photos, videos, artifacts and then going out and experiencing the land/monuments we are there to see... It's incredible!
Above ground, under ground, under water, and out in space.... There's always more to see.
Life is too short to build a fence and stay behind it. Everyday I'm working on breaking down walls (and fears)-- my body, mind & heart are all growing older, and not knowing how much time I have is my main motivation to step outside my comfort zone and experience things I never knew we're possible, and feeling like I'm living on borrowed time doesn't get pushed aside, not even for a day. Overall, I'm pretty damn lucky... I have a pretty sweet team of people cheering me on and letting me fly. And knowing I've got this guy helping guide me through any darkness that might come in the future is pretty sweet too. ✌️💜🍻
After spending the last few weeks seeing nothing but beets and corn fields, breathing in diesel fumes, and listening to the sounds of heavy machinery - a day spent doing yoga in the grass and reading in the sunshine was much needed for us 👌🏻
Earlier this week, members of our Marketplace Home Mortgage - South Dakota team were present at the first step of BOLD hosted by @kellerwilliamsrealtysiouxfalls.
Good luck to all those who are about to begin the program! Thank you for letting us be part of such an inspiring day.
Construction of the Mount Rushmore National Memorial began 90 years ago today. It is an amazing work of art that you have to see in person to fully appreciate. The vision of the sculptor, Gutzon Borglum, was incredible.
The Badlands are as dreamy as they are huge (244,000 acres 👀). On our road trip across the west this past spring we got to see prairie dogs, bighorn sheep, and bison that all call this place home. We ended our day camping under a clear, windy South Dakotan sky. ✨
