-- Throwback to me as a minion, pictured with my grandfather on my Fourth Birthday. But most importantly pictured with a man I grew up idiolizing, my grandfather. A man of class and intelligence, a loving husband and father of two, a hard working lawyer, whom opened the first law library back home in Tirana, Albania. A man that I spent every weekend talking too on the phone, even though he was 4,000+ miles away. Ten years ago I lost him, and yesterday he would have been 102years old. I am blessed, and honored everyday of my life that I am named after this man, Mateo, and will carry the name with pride my whole life. Gjushi, I love you, and I miss you.
At least two of us in this photo are smiling (despite feeling like the worst parents ever 😱). We found the most beautiful hike - well-maintained trail and fabulous views on what looked like a picture-perfect day...but as soon as we got to the top, the wind kicked into high gear and the temperature dropped at least 15 degrees 😳. Which meant we were terribly undressed and had to walk an hour down with cold, very sad kiddos in our packs. Luckily, these kids are soooo resilient. After blasting the heat and snuggling up in the car for a few mins, by the time we were just a few miles from the parking lot, we were laughing and talking about how windy the trail was! Every day is surely an adventure! ❄️💨⛰// #family#adventure#hiking#appalachianmountains#resilientkids
