Shot photos at the Some Turkey Trot in DC for work (had planned to run it but forgot to register and onsite was $50 for untimed. I’m a #prizefighter ) so went over to Alexandria for that turkey trot! After passing the 3 mile marker, turned on the final kick. .... and kept going.... . Half a mile later realized it was a longer race. Pulled back. Regrouped and finished the 5 miler! First time at that distance so it’s a #PR w 45:25. Been trying to #fatadapt and ended up unintentionally doing it at MAF (150 max hr, 140 hr avg) while pushing it. Also got to run with @tinerson205 !!! And and I had a social media friend sighting!! Met THE @capitalrunnergirl ! Happy thanksgiving all! And yes I rock cowboys gear every thanksgiving. Repping that @tony.romo #9#myqb
This is interesting . .. .
Margarine was originally manufactured to fatten turkeys. When it killed the turkeys, the people who had put all the money into the research wanted a payback so they put their heads together to figure out what to do with this product to get their money back.
It was a white substance with no food appeal so they added the yellow coloring and sold it to people to use in place of butter. How do you like it? They have come out with some clever new flavorings.... DO YOU KNOW.. The difference between margarine and butter?
Read on to the end...gets very interesting!
Both have the same amount of calories.
Eating margarine can increase heart disease in women by 53% over eating the same amount of butter, according to a recent Harvard Medical Study.
Eating butter increases the absorption of many other nutrients in other foods.
Butter has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few and only because they are added!
Butter tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavors of other foods.
Butter has been around for centuries where margarine has been around for less than 100 years .
And now, for Margarine.. Very High in Trans fatty acids.
Triples risk of coronary heart disease ... Increases total cholesterol and LDL (this is the bad cholesterol) and lowers HDL cholesterol, (the good cholesterol)
Increases the risk of cancers up to five times.. Lowers quality of breast milk
Decreases immune response.
Decreases insulin response.
And here's the most disturbing fact... HERE IS THE PART THAT IS VERY INTERESTING!
Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC... and shares 27 ingredients with PAINT.
These facts alone were enough to have me avoiding margarine for life and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is added, changing the molecular structure of the substance). It does not rot or smell differently because it has no nutritional value ; nothing will grow on it. Even those teeny weeny microorganisms will not a find a home to grow.
Why? Because it is nearly plastic . Would you melt your Tupperware and spread that on your toast?
Enjoying #wateronly for breakfast, lunch and dinner for the next few days while completing an extended fast. I’m fasting to help my body #fatadapt and beat #insulinresistance while cleaning up any damaged cells in my body. During fasting our bodies engage in autophagy which, very basically, is the process that allows our bodies to eat the damaged, bad cells and create new, more dense #mitochondria aka the power plants of our cells that produce energy.

Americans Eat This Way: 632 lbs. of dairy products (of which only 31.4 lbs. of cheese), 415.4 lbs. of vegetables (most popular being corn and potatoes), 273 lbs. of fruit, and 183.6 lbs. of meat and poultry. (Over a year)
So, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see a trend here: Americans eat a whole lot of dairy which is full of Lactose, the milk sugar, and a tiny amount of that is HIGH FAT CHEESE (which would be the healthy dairy), significant amount of STARCHY vegetables, a WHOLE lot of FRUCTOSE filled fruits, and the LEAST AMOUNT OF MEAT... AND, WHAT DO WE HAVE? An epidemic of metabolic diseases - obesity, diabetes, CVD, Cancer, Stroke, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's etc. Join the dots, genius!

HIGH PROTEIN. HIGH FAT. MODERATE FIBRE. << These are the macros to aim for, and NOT HIGH FAT, MODERATE PROTEIN. >> The #Keto Experts are encouraging people to cut back on protien to maintain #Ketosis >> WRONG APPROACH! Natural way to achieve a #Ketogenic state, taking a leaf out of the book of our #Paleo ancestors, is to STOP OVEREATING - If you are eating THREE MEALS A DAY, you are eating too OFTEN and not letting your insulin level fall. And if you are trying to trick your body by eating unnaturally high fat & moderate protein, you are setting yourself up for a fall in the long run, because protien is ESSENTIAL to age well. Gain the benefits of a #Ketogenic state with a high protein, high fat #OneMealADay with long periods of no food, to allow your insulin to fall and tap into your fat reserves! Apply common sense to diet, NOT blindly follow the "so called Keto Experts." #LCHF#LCHFdiet#Keto#KetoDiet#KetoAdapt#FatAdapt#Paleo#PaleoDiet#OMAD#FASTING#Refeedday#LowCarb#NoCarb#NoFructose#HEALTHY#Lifestyle#Fitness
Tasty Tuesday!! When your goal is to get the majority of your #macros from good fats (as is mine), ☄️FAT BOMBS are a quick, convenient way to get them in! Most have the base of coconut oil or butter (this one calls for both and I forgot to add the butter 😩, but they're still tasty.) .
CHOCOLATE ALMOND FAT BOMBS
•1 cup melted Coconut Oil
•1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
•1 tablespoon Stevia Sweetener (I used 1 tsp)
•½ to 1 teaspoon sea salt
•4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
•½ cup almond butter
•2 tablespoons grass-fed butter
Add-ins – Almonds, unsweetened coconut, berries (optional) * I added coconut
Paper cupcake liners * I use a silicone tray (2nd pic 👉🏼)
**Combine all ingredients in a food processor (I used my Vitamix blender), then pour. Place in refrigerator to set. Store in fridge in airtight container. .

Finished my first Tough Mudder. Great event and a lot of fun. Really enjoyed the camaraderie and the inclusive approach of the volunteers. Not very interesting but some people may find it interesting that I did not eat before, during, or directly after the event and drank only water. I ate my first piece of food at 5pm (3.5 hours after completing the event), 20 hours after eating my last meal.

120 days ago i learned to love myself enough to know i needed to make a change.
I didnt want to carry all that extra weight around any longer. I wanted to enjoy life with my kids.
120 days later im down 70lbs.
I run twice a week with my preteen. I lift weights 3 times a week with my preteen. I run around playing soccer and football and chase after a toddler.
