• for anyone else lying awake with this London weather • honestly sounds as if my doors are about to fly open it's so windy out there! And I know going on your phone is the last thing you should do but I've doused my pillow in sleep spray and still nothing. So my latest #Veganuary inspo comes in the form of my 10 minute gyoza supper. Even when I get home reasonably early from work (like 7.30/8) I always feel under a bit of pressure to make something speedy as I don't like to eat too late or want to make time for other things. I've also usually quite hangry. So I either rely on food prep or make something like this - coconut and lime rice (either homemade or using something like @tildarice - I usually have a couple in the cupboard for quick carbs) with steamed @itsuofficial vegetable dumplings, which you can even steam over the rice if you're cooking your own. I threw in some frozen edamame for extra #protein (continuously fighting that vegan protein deficiency eh 🤥😏) and then topped with coriander, black sesame seeds, soya sauce and a white sesame seed and garlic mix. The thing with lots of vegan food is that you need these little additions to really jazz it up. A top tip for those doing veganuary would definitely be to utilise all those herbs and spices in your cupboard - you could flavour your own rice with chilli and lime, or make a sweet chilli sauce with some maple syrup, soy sauce, chillis, spring onions, etc. Just experiment and have fun, and know that there are options like these that literally take <10 minutes to plate up! #vegan#plantbased#itsu

Charles moved back, surprised. “Oh...oh my god...I'm so sorry… I didn't know!” Charles looked mortified as he backed away quickly. He looked at Alec sadly. “Who's the lucky man?” Charles asked, crossing his arms. Honestly, Alec didn't want to keep talking to Charles. The man had just tried to kiss him. But Alec forced a smile. “Magnus Bane, high warlock of Brooklyn.” Alec said proudly. Charles looked amused. “Oh?” Charles looked surprised. He looked like he wanted to say something but he was too stunned. “I'm sorry I didn't know.” He quickly exited the room. Alec was frozen for a bit, but he quickly took his files and went outside. He felt a bit weird. Magnus was the only person he had kissed. Ever. And now even the thought of another man's lips on his...yikes. That was too close. Should he tell Magnus? Maybe not. Alec shook his head. He needs to tell him. He knew from past experience that hiding things from his boyfriend never ended well.

I've been often (too) critical about non Burgundian Pinot Noirs. This is one of the wines that proves me wrong. Savoury fruit, spices and a finely textured palate. A truly great wine. *

Finally tried the new hoisin wrap from @marksandspencerfoodpr - and actually was a little disappointed 😔 I used to love their one from the main range but this just didn’t quite hit the spot, think it was the hoisin sauce that wasn’t quite what I remembered. (And sorry for the less than optimal photo, I was really hungry!)
L U N C H T I M E 🥪 following my teaser post earlier today, this is what I picked up from the Beyond Bread stand at Selfridges food hall. It’s the chicken caesar sandwich 😍 I had it toasted and the bread is by far the best gluten free bread I’ve tasted! It’s like proper bakery rustic bread 😋 YUM

delicious seafood platter at loch fyne this evening. our waiter was a lovely italian guy but i was dreading saying “no garlic, gluten and onion” because italy do those things pretty bloody well, but when i told him he rushed to the kitchen and i could hear him double checking and questioning the chef on everything and he came back saying he could do it all for me without certain sauces and butters etc but promised it would still taste great, and it did! i normally steer completely clear from chain restaurants as i’ve worked in a few and they don’t make anything fresh so low FODMAP would be impossible but i was very impressed this eve! never be scared to ask and even double/ triple check, if it’s a good restaurant they should make the majority of food fresh so will be able to cater for you!! 🦐🦀🦑 #seafoodplatter

Dairy-free DREAM. My coconut and rice-based ice cream gave me the birthday buzz I was craving ✨🎉. Had a cheeky Nando’s the other day 😎 I got the quinoa salad and swapped the feta for olives, garlic bread (theirs is vegan!!!)🍞 and the new supergreen patty. The salad and garlic bread were gr8 but not a massive fan of the supergreen. Who else misses the old veggie patty? 💔Haven’t tried the butternut squash one yet. Which do you guys prefer?
Black bean pasta with loads of veg (then added nooch and ketchup ofc)
Sadly I'm having to avoid soy cause it's made my skin really bad recently, so I gave my Aldi soybean spaghetti to my flatmate😢 BUT went to Aldi today and they had a black bean version, as if they knew I was coming! Plus, the black bean one actually has one more gram of protein per serving, so every cloud I guess😊
Now I can’t take the credit for this as I didn’t cook it. Plus, it’s a recipe from @jamieoliver ‘s new book #fiveingredients Chicken thighs, potato, carrots, garlic and rosemary. Everything in a roasting dish, for an hour and boom! Soooo food 😍😍😍 This isn’t all about my own recipes or workouts, but about balance.. what isn’t included is the little desert pots that followed after... I went to the gym today after all 😉 #balance#itiswhatitis 👌🏼 No lesson today, though I know I need to tone it down a bit after a weekend full of #gin ( #nevertoomuch ) But the whole point is about exercising moderation. The fact that this all went in one pan and cooks in an hour means other things can be done whilst it’s in the oven. A little #workout perhaps? #hiit#yoga .. your ironing, online food shop, etc etc. My main issue is not picking whilst dinner is in. Maybe that’s the lesson today.. wait for dinner! 😝
Thai green chicken curry noodle bowl.
To make the Thai green curry sauce I blended-
1-2 handfuls coriander leaves and stalks
1 stem lemongrass
1 spring onion
2-3cm fresh ginger
1 garlic clove
1 tbsp coconut oil
1/3 carton coconut cream
4 tsp coconut aminos
1 cup homemade chicken stock
Juice of a lime
Pinch of chilli
Splash of water
I used buckwheat noodles but you could substitute them for courgetti/zoodles or omit. I also added broccoli and topped my bowl with coriander, chilli flakes, slices of spring onion and a wedge of lime.
