A sweet little juvenile
Sharp-tailed Sandpiper (Calidris acuminata) that I snapped with @armchairbirders at Hexham Swamp while we were looking for the Black-necked Stork (unsuccessfully). I love the colour of the first light on this guy and was privileged to watch him and his mates foraging at low tide in the mangroves and mudflats.
Dark-eyed Junco. They love to forage on the ground, and sometimes they scratch like chickens to kick up the seed from our Bermuda grass. I've counted as many as 8 as of late. Super sweet temperament, and very shy.
