I hear "Wow you left California to come here? Why?" Almost everytime I meet someone new. Leaving the comfort zone of my Cali was probably the scariest thing I've ever done to date. (I've been to some pretty intense haunted houses, cliff jumping, jumping into the river from a 40 ft drop at Ponderosa bridge, and scariest of all my ex long-distance relationship). So as excited as I was to move away, I was more scared to not have my friends by my side, my comfortable job, and especially my mom. I wasn't sure and am still unsure of what the future will bring me on this side of the coast but what I do know is, risks are worth taking! If the life you live is no longer growing you or challenging you it's time for a change. Everyday is an opportunity to choose a different path, make a different choice, and to overcome one challenge at a time. Thank you to my friends who have been supporting me and being here for me day in and day out. #getup#moveon#takearisk#grow#lifequotes

Sitting has become the common denominator in the modern workday. On average, majority of workers sit 9.3 hours a day, compared to 7.7 hours of sleeping. Sitting has become so ingrained into our way of living that we don’t even question how much we’re doing it.
It appears that sitting has become the smoking of our generation. Prolonged sitting is a risk factor for all-cause mortality, INDEPENDENT OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY. To put it into perspective, after one hour of sitting, the production of enzymes that burn fat declines as much as 90%. In general, a person with a high sedentary lifestyle faces SIX TIMES increase in risk of death.
Over the past couple of years, companies implemented this mainstreaming of standing desks. Although it certainly helps, implementing more physical activity during your workday is imperative. Here are some great ways to get you moving! •Walking Meetings. •Get Up Every 15mins To Stretch. •Drink LOTS of Water! Forces You To Get Up and Go To The Washroom, AND ITS HEALTY FOR YOU! •Create Walking Clubs at Lunch. •Participate In At Least 150mins Of MODERATE-to- INTENSE AEROBIC Physical Activity Per Week!
Moral of the story- Get up and move!
Blair @blairlyon99 doing a Turkish Getup at @crossfitykv this morning. So many mental health lessons to take away from this: 1) I had always seen people do these at the gym and I'd tried but failed, so I thought I couldn't do it. But once somebody taught me how to do it, then it became doable and it makes for a good warm up (although I don't do the super heavy weights yet like Blair does). Exercises you do in therapy to cut out compulsions and accept intrusive thoughts are like this, too. If it seems impossible, get somebody that does it well to show you how. 2) Like Blair said in the video, he hates the exercise but he's doing it to improve mobility. He was just doing this as a warm-up before doing snatches. So many exercises, like meditation, are similar to this for mental health. They're challenging on their own but they're really about improving capacity to do other exercises. They may not seem directly related to your goals, but if you don't do them, expect to struggle even more. 3) Improving your physical fitness and flexibility is challenging and difficult and and sweaty and doesn't feel good when you're pushing into your body's limits. Improving mental fitness and psychological flexibility are the same. Working on mental health is about pushing into challenging experiences. It's about finding those rigid things inside of us and breaking them down in support of doing more of the things we care about.
Hey you! Get up today, put a smile on and face the world, spread Gods love and be a walking testimony today of how BIG your God is... isn't that amazing!? That we can get up everyday and know that wherever the day takes us GOD IS ALREADY THERE! He was there yesterday, he's there now, and he will 100% meet you in the circumstances of today. Don't try to make sense of things on your own, it's then we start to lose our peace he gives us, just trust him. He IS there! I love you ALL! #trustGod#awesomeGod#peace#surpassesallunderstanding#faith#life#getup#go
