Active recovery day... working on my mental toughness today making these for my family and not having any! 🤤seriously though, the right nutrition can be the hardest part, but thanks to the help of @coachdanm for the last few months I've been learning how to properly fuel my body for all the work I put it through. The right nutrition is a game changer for recovery. #howbaddoyouwantit#eatyourveggies#macros#HWPO

Good afternoon guys!
So a lot of you had voted, and wanted to see a picture of me before I had started my journey in fitness. Well here it is. On the right, was December 2014, maybe a month into crossfit. I struggled with a lot, bad health, bad knees and back (couldn’t run a lap without pain), 250-260lbs, confidence issues, and overall wasn’t happy. I was introduced into crossfit, and it changed my life. I’ve become more confident in myself, and who I am. I filled a void I was missing, from playing sports in high school. This gave me a reason to keep at it, especially since I love competing. Going on 3 years, and I still look at this picture from time to time. The one on the right, was a 2 weeks ago. It’s a consistent reminder that, I don’t ever wanna go back to how I was. This road has not been easy, trust me. I’ve had a lot of ups and downs, more downs than anything haha but that’s what makes this fun. The process, believing in yourself and the journey. This is just the beginning..
Awesome time at the East Coast Gold Cup! Congrats to all the competitors. PR snatch of 87kg (191.4lb) and meet PR clean & jerk of 103kg (226.6lb). Decent meet but not satisfied. Hungry for the Moorestown Winter Open Dec 17. Thank you coach @k9spine_mthall #Hungry#HWPO#MoveTheBoard#MTHall#weightlifting#Prs &As
Think it’s all about going to to gym? Eating whatever you want as long as you workout? I give you 4 years of 6 days/week @crossfit Emily vs 3 months of nutrition focus AND CrossFit Emily. I posted the picture on the right on my story already today, but I’m so damn proud about it I had to post it again. 💙
Courage and fear are the two most honest things in life. One cannot exist without the other. Playing it safe or taking a really big risk, curling up to old comforts or moving toward something more. I've learned in the past year that maybe the journey wasn't about becoming anything, but unbecoming everything that wasn't me. I have outgrown people, places, things that are no longer meant for me to create new space and breathe new life into mine; to lean toward anything and everything that makes me a better woman. I've wrestled with discomfort and realized that the only way out of pain is through it- that pain is a process and that pain is information. I've started to know myself all over again. I'm a girl who wears a lot of black and likes the sound of rain. I think scars are sexy because it means you made a big mistake that is likely accompanied by an entertaining story. I never cared much for whining because I was raised to go get up and fix my own problems when things got hard. I strangely love the feeling of nearly throwing up after a hard workout and the smell of clean sheets after a hot shower at night. In my opinion, there's really no better cheat day food than pizza and vanilla ice cream (and I have oddly avoided eating the orange m&ms since I was a kid). I really like petting dogs and doing things for people who are less fortunate than I have been in this life. Knowing yourself is a really an important part of your strength and owning who you are is an incredibly brave and beautiful thing :) #hwpo#fitness#girlswholift#gym#cleaneating wpo #fitness#girlswholift#gym#cleaneating#fit#competition#workout#nutrition#bodybuilding#fitfam#gym#fitnessmotivation#fitlife#workhard#training#cardio#persevere#fitnessjourney#weights#goals#fitspiration#girlswholift#protein#babymuscles#sunday#words#nike#inspire#hardworkpaysoff
Gym Accessories | Are They Necessary?
For me I’ve always tried not to use any gym accessories, because I believe that you only need yourself if you’re trying to improve yourself and to an extent, every exercise can be done without any fancy equipment or accessory. Nowadays there are a lot of companies trying to take advantage of people who are less educated about fitness by persuading them to think that their gym accessory will get them some crazy results and therefore profiting off of them.
Before I go any further tho, I want to stress that you don’t NEED any gym accessories if you want to lift weights, but depending on your performance/expertise level, buying some accessories may be a good idea in order to enhance performance. For example, I now use lifting straps and wrist wraps to help me with certain exercises and recently I purchased a foam roller which was also a very good investment. Again, none of these were necessary, especially at the start of my ‘gym career’ when I wasn’t using particularly heavy weights. I’ve just chosen to use them. Now that I’ve been training for a while and become more knowledgeable, I understand that using some of these accessories can aid my performance in the gym. So yes in some circumstances accessories are useful but again they’re not necessary. Having said that, something like an arm blaster is absolutely pointless in my opinion. There are soo many other ways to get the same effect of having no momentum, like using a bench or a preacher curl or simply putting your elbows just above your hips like I’m doing here. So please don’t waste your money buying pointless sh*t. It doesn’t make you look cool either!
32 WOD this morning at my old stomping grounds. This WOD raises money for the battered women’s shelter, and is done in honor of Marks Sister. Managed to pull off a PR, 22:55. Thanks for having me @molonlabecrossfit always a good event and one I look forward too. Wish the rest of the Sinchok’s could have joined me! Until next year. #crossfit#hwpo#mlcf#charitywod#pr
“My advice is very simple: If you want something, work your ass off for it.” -Camille Leblanc-Bazinet ‘Proud’ doesn’t even begin to explain how I felt after yesterday’s #fallbrawl competition. For the last year, I’ve watched the determination, dedication, and sacrifices this girl has made to become the best athlete she can be!
Our work and mission isn’t over yet, but this second place finish amongst dozens of extremely talented CrossFitters, shows that we’re headed in the right direction! 💪🏼❤️🥈 @jesshawkins20
