So these past few days I have been working a ton and clearly not taking care of myself... Eating fast food in the car a few times a day is not going to make your stomach happy but sometimes life just happens. That’s why I keep a little baggie filled with empty capsules and a little dropper so that I can whip out a little stomach support combo! This is seriously a lifesaver!

As a holistic nutritionist, I get a ton of questions on my Instagram (@michellenutrition) about feeding babies and how I have introduced first foods for Isla. We started from day one with baby led weaning because we felt comfortable, but I do get a lot of new mamas who have concerns about feeding solid chunks and choking. The truth is that there are very important differences between choking and gagging, and there are steps that you can take to ensure introducing solids safely! Here are some guidelines that may help: begin baby led weaning with solids after 6 months, always stay present with your baby while eating solids, feed your baby without distraction and avoid the high risk foods (hard foods, chunks of meat, grapes or cherry tomatoes). It's also completely natural for babies to gag (which is actually the body's natural defence mechanism against choking) and it happens when the baby either has too much food or if the food is too far back in the mouth before it has been chewed. Although it can be scary to see your child gag, it is important to know the difference between choking and gagging, and that it's a completely normal response, as attempting to remove the object may in fact cause choking. If you're getting ready to introduce solids there are plenty of strategies that you can use to help you to feel comfortable, and it's always recommended to do a first aid course too, for that extra piece of mind! I'm 6 months old today and my mom is feeling a little emotional that I’m growing too fast. It was impossible for my mom to take a picture of me laying down because I grab everything. I can sit up on my own now, I’ve been eating my cereal with banana it’s the only way I like it, I’ve eaten sweet potatoes and love them. I got my first cold this month, I think my sister is hilarious and laugh at everything she does, my dad makes me laugh more than my mom does. I don’t care to army crawl yet, I would rather roll and know eventually I’ll get to a toy. We love you so much my boy!

A weekend well rested and loved is definetly what I got.
My body hurts and I can't get comfortable and yet i think my happy hormones are keeping me going, if those are even such thing 🤷♀️ I'm blessed to have the end of this pregnancy tolerable compared to the beginning, and yet i feel that the beginning was hard, to teach me to toughin the eff up. There's always some sort of lesson being taught even when we don't realize it until later. Just remember that things won't ALWAYS be bad. Push yourself through the hard times and realize that you're not alone!

Had these beautiful babies around for a “weaning” (now called complementary feeding) workshop. These babies are all around 5 months old and so their parents are really alert for the signs that they are ready and wanted to get all the info and the latest evidence on introducing solids before they start. It’s funny seeing these babies grow as they are all the same age but are all developing at completely different rates. Babies are all individuals and may be ready for solids at slightly different times. However, it’s a good idea to look out for signs they are ready - see earlier baby post and upcoming blog - and stick to as close to 6 months as possible.
Chicken with saffron rice
(Chicken machboos in healthy way)
1 1/2 tbs Coconut oil
1 cup white rice (dry) washed
1 whole chicken ( halved)
1 medium onion ( chopped)
whole garlic cloves
1 Lemon ( cut into quarters or sliced)
1.8 liters of boiled water
Salt ( I put 1 tbs )
mixed spices ( black pepper-cardamom-cinnamon-dried lemon-coriander-cumin curry) all powder
1 tsp of saffron in 1/4 cup of warm water **For toppings I baked a medium piece of potato with some herbs, salt and paprika at 375 F until it turns golden color
-in medium pot heat coconut oil little bit then add onions, salt ,turmeric and all spices -stir then add garlic ,chicken halves and lemon -cook until the meat turns white then add boiling water -leave it cooking for about 25 min -then remove chicken halves from the pot ( don't throw the stock),add some of saffron water on top of them then broil in the oven until chicken turns red
-at that pot add rice and leave it boil until you see holes afterwards reduce heat into low and cover
-when all water dried add saffron water to the rice and leave it for more 10-12 min.

ملعقة ونصف زيت جوز الهند
كوب أرز منقوع
دجاجة كاملة مقطعة إلى نصفين
بصلة متوسطة الحجم مقطعة
ليمونة مقطع أرباع أو شرائح
ثوم ( كاملة مع كل الفصوص)
١.٨ ماء مغلي
ملح ( حطيت ملعقة طعام واحدة )
ملعقة صغيرة زعفران يوضع في ١/٤ كوب ماء دافئ **حق التزيين حطيت بطاط مكعبات بالفرن ورشيت عليه ملح وأعشاب وبابريكا إلى أن يحمر
الطريقة : -في قدر متوسط الحجم نسخن زيت جوز الهند قليلاً
-ثم نحمس البصل ونضيف عليه الملح والبهارات والكركم -بعد ذلك نضيف الثومة كاملة ونصفي الدجاجة والليمون -نقلب الدجاج على الوجهين ثم نضيف الماء المغلي عندما يتغير لون الدجاج للبياض
-نتركه يطبخ لمدة ٢٥ دقيقة تقريباً
-بعدها نخرج الدجاج ونصب عليه قليلاً من منقوع الزعفران ونحمره بالفرن
-في القدر السابق نضيف الأرز المصفى إلى ماء الدجاج
ونتركه يغلي إلى أن يتشكل ثقوب على الأرز - حينها نقوم بتغطية القدر ونتركه يطبخ على نار هادئة إلى أن ينشف الماء -بعد أن ينشف الماء نضيف منقوع الزعفران على وجه الأرز ونتركه لمدة ١٠-١٢ دقيقة إضافية
