By law, child care workers/providers are required to expand their educational knowledge in early childhood education by taking courses each and every year. The curriculum is not predetermined but there is a set amount of clock hours that must be met. This year, in addition to my regularly required child hood education clock hours, I decided that I would invest in yoga teacher training for children. In December, I became a certified kids yoga instructor through @KiddingAroundYoga. This decision has greatly benefited both myself and the children in my care. So, parents, don’t be alarmed if your children randomly drops into downward facing dog pose or sit in lotus pose and begin to meditate. After all, “Peace begins with them!” #familydaycare#homedaycare#happysprouts#kiddingaroundyoga#childrensyogateacher#childrensyoga#yogaforkids
I'm OBSESSED after 4 days!
To be completely honest, I was OBSESSED before I even started this program!
I knew it was going to be amazing ... I knew it was going to be like no other program I have EVER done before. And I knew I would LOVE IT!
After 4 days, I already feel stronger mentally and physically. 80 days is no matchfor me. I'm going to crush it and do it again! 💪
What's the longest program you have committed to?
Our science experiment on how icicles are made: we first scooped up some of the snow from outside and brought it in. We then let it sit to see what would happen. We noticed that the snow started melting since it was inside in the warm air. Then once it was all melted we put the container with the water in the freezer. After a few hours we checked the water and it had frozen. We talked about how when the snow melts on a warmer day it becomes water. If that water is dripping down from somewhere and the air becomes cold then it freezes to make icicles! #newmarket#newmarketmoms#newmarkethomechildcare#homedaycare#homechildcarerocks#homechildcare#independentchildcareprovider#ICPqualitycare
The first thing @salvationarmyus said when they saw it was, "Wowww, this is niiiiice! This is realy nice." To be honest, I wish I could have sold it. I paid good, hard-earned money for this thing and I don't even think it's five years old yet. Not to mention it's in excellent condition. But the amount of space that thing was taking up was ridic! Raj is just happy we don't ever have to move it again. That thing is HUGE! I guess I'm a little bitter because I had the money to finally buy something nice for myself and so I did. I paid cash for it.💲💲💲Cash! For the loveseat, the couch, and my bedroom set (including the mattress). Cash! And this was all before we were married. When I was still mingling and what not. That may not be a big deal for some people but it was for me!!! I was a saver. I was all about stacking my chips. I still kinda am. But back then I was even more careful about what I bought. So yeah, a small part of me just died today when I gave it away for free. Free, people, free! But it's all good. I'm slowly making room for the things to come. And sometimes in order to receive, you have to make room. You have to give. Right? Right. 😢 Stay tuned.
2 years ago, right before my baby girl was born, I made the decision to leave my job at WOLCA that I absolutely loved, so that I could be home with my kids. Then the opportunity to watch my good friends daughter was presented with perfect timing & it was the sweetest 18 mos being able to watch Olivia and Vannah grow and become so close, I wasn't sure what would come next once it was time for Liv to start preschool! Fast forward to now, I have my own in home daycare and an amazing little group of kids I get the privilege of caring for, teaching & loving! I never would've thought my decision to stay home and the tools I learned while working at a place I adore, would lead to where we are today, nor did I think I was capable of doing this! It's a huge blessing that Vannah has these friendships, is able to spend time with kids her age and benefit from the structure and school prep that a daycare offers, all from home with her mom as the teacher ☺ I love how God's plans are bigger than our own and when you can look back and see everything that fell into place and prepared you for things you had no idea were coming #thankful#stayathomemom#homedaycare#lovewhatido
In the beginning, I would guess not many providers think about some things we don't want to do. Well, today I'm going there. Here are some things that I stopped doing at my Childcare ... and why. www.thrivingchildcare.com

Until we have a completely dedicated daycare space again, this is how we'll be doing things! Kids have a spot to hang coats and put shoes in the entryway, and then we have these for pickup. This over the door pocket folder has a color coded folder for each child. These folders will contain our monthly newsletter; weekly menu; and take home papers, including lessons and artwork! 💞
