I DID SOMETHING DIFFERENT TODAY! My friend @teppohaapoja and I decided to go to the streets of Sydney and surprise homeless people with Christmas cards. That’s where we met Ken. Ken is over 60 years old and has been homeless for over 15 years. He has been holding up a sign stating „money for medicine“, trying to provide for his sick daughter. We sat down, had a chat with him and then offered to create a new sign for him on a piece of cardboard we bought earlier. Now you can walk down George St and hopefully see Ken holding up a sign wishing you „Merry Christmas“! It‘s not much, it may only be a drop on a hot stone. But that’s what I had to give!
Fuckin’ Baltic is right, I’m heading homeless for the week as I want to appreciate the smaller things in life like I use to. I’m solely doing this for my own purposes, however if a raise in awareness and donations come from it all well and good. The link in my bio will direct to @focusirelandsal website to donate. If you donate please notify me as when you donate €2 it will allow me to take €2 from my own pocket to feed myself. I’ll try documenting whole experience as much as possible on this and my Snapchat. Seeya on the other side.. hopefully 🤙🏽 #Homeless#HomelessAwareness
We’ve had some real rockstars bringing in donations for @fortkennedy! Those taped boxes are all full of food! We’ll be dropping off this first load of clothes and food to them later this week, but will continue collecting through December 22. And don’t forget, for every item you donate, you can put your name in our drawing for a $300 Beaverton Motorcycles gift card! #tistheseaonofgiving
Forgotten Louisville. 530-630 Dec 20th off river road at the UofL Rowing building parking lot. Anyone is welcome to meet us! Any tables you have to help set stuff out would be awesome as well. Think warm! Anything to help them through the winter. Snacks, hygiene, hats, scarfs, hoodies... all sizes. Thanks in advance:) DM me for any questions or info!!
My cosy home is a building site...it's an old house and the damp problems are on a cyclical basis...disruption each time we can afford it! Very aware this is a #firstworldproblem and even a "first world lucky to have a home" problem...#homeless#homelessness has got worse and worse round here :( it's freezing outside and while the churches open their doors when it's zero degrees, they don't let dogs in...and more often than not the homeless peeps I see have dogs ...
Tbh I'm #ashamed at what I see around me in 2017...I saw the same in the US too when I was out there a few years ago. Even worse out there :(
My first thought when the (council paid for) Christmas lights were switched on here was how would you feel, homeless, to see your council prioritising twinkly candle lights over your warmth/safety/basic comfort for human beings and whatever non human friends might come with?
