Hola amigos y amigas! Okay so thank you so much to everyone who has donated and sent good vibes down South🙏😘 This community has come a long way in two weeks since the Hurricane hit but there is still much to do and many homes to rebuild and restock. Check out my friend, Susanna Chase's post about it on my Facebook page.
It is incredible🤗https://thesusannachase.wordpress.com/2017/10/21/incredible/
With the money raised so far we are sponsoring a local family and using the money to purchase at cost mattresses for their home once it is cleared of mud and debris. They will not have to sleep on their floor and for this they are truly grateful 🙏 We are putting in the order on Tuesday but we are short about $200 of the total cost of the bill. Please if you have a moment find time to donate even a $1! Or share this with your friends! You can click on the link in my bio or below! Thank you soo much and have a great weekend ya'll😘 #hurricanenate#nicaragua#gofundme#helpingothers#namaste#thankful#tola#commumity#love
🌼This is my favorite mixing bowl. It was given to me by one of my old neighbors after hurricane sandy when I was struggling to buy back everything we had owned... while keeping up with the mortgage payment plus rental payment. .
🌼Almost 5 years ago to the day, everything I’d worked for my entire life was destroyed. I had to start over completely from scratch. I had a newborn, 2 toddlers and a husband who couldn’t find viable, decent employment at the time. It was the most challenging few years I’d ever faced. .
🌼I didn’t complain. I wouldn’t allow myself to cry. I think that the word VICTIM is limiting. I can get behind the word SURVIVOR. There is great beauty and boundless strength behind this word.
🌼I simply got to work rebuilding this beautiful life that I am so grateful to have created in the first place. I started from scratch as a teenager. Surely, I could do it again.
🌼I am so very thankful to have experienced the loss (in hindsight, of course). I’ve learned a lifetime’s worth of lessons in a short few years. .
🌼I know for certain who my people are. You always think you know who you can count on in a crisis. I can assure you from experience; you do not. .
🌼Some of the biggest kindnesses came from strangers. Like my neighbor lady. I’ll never forget.
🌼Some of my friends and family were so unhelpful and even downright cruel. It hurt my heart at first. It pained my sensibilities. I had to learn to let it go. One quality I find to be very ugly is bitterness. .
🌼Today I challenge you to look around you at all of the goodness in your life and to sincerely thank God, the universe, nature (whatever you believe in) for placing it before you. And also thank yourself for accepting it. You deserve all good things. :) .
🌼More good things will come to you after doing this. .
🌼I’m in the process of manifesting a new house at the moment. The hardest part for me is going through my boxes in the basement that I’ve left untouched since the hurricane.
🌼It’s some form of post traumatic stress I’ve been avoiding like the plague. I feel heavy just thinking about walking down the basement steps.. I think I might throw them out unopened. 😂
After resuming classes post Nate, Hero Academy has gained 17 new students from families in extreme poverty. We're running out of space. Classes are packed, loud, messy but also extremely fun and productive.
Sometimes we find notes like this after class...and it makes everything worth it.
For those of you that know me know that I love to travel. I recently went to San Juan Del Sur, Nicarauga and for the first time I felt something I never felt before (besides NYC). I felt at home. So much at home that I bought a piece of land so I can build myself a home there one day. However, right now San Juan Del Sur needs your help. Many families lost their homes and have had their boats destroyed. The last thing we need these amazing welcoming people to loose is their hope. Please take a second to donate what you can to them 🔝 click the link in bio. Anything helps 🏄🏼♀️☀️🛶💛 #ashleytakesnicaragua
Isla de Holbox - Mexico | Unfurtunately we came here after hurricane Nate, otherwise it should look like a real paradise (even better than the Bounty Islands). It was still perfect to do a siësta in the hammock above the water and watch the flamingos. We have to go back here (at least to snorkle with the whale sharks). #hurricanenate#hammock#flamingo#racoon#isladeholbox#mexico#travelling#wanderlust
