-----Benefits Of Unilateral Training-----
If there is flexion there is extension, abduction, adduction, internal rotation, external rotation, push, pull, Yin and Yang. In natural human movements such as walking, sports or martial arts we always have one limb performing a specific action and the other limb performing the opposite action balancing each other out. This is what we refer to as reciprocal movements.
As we walk, run, move side to side one leg is always on the ground and the opposite leg is always off the ground, therefore the importance of single leg strength and balance is important.
Majority of movements in life does not require us to evenly push off of both feet at the same time usually the opposite is true as seen in walking and running. Therefore unilateral training have great transfer to real life.
Other benefits found with unilateral training:
1. Core Stabilization
2. Dominant and non-dominant limbs are trained equally
3. Strength transfer to bilateral movements
4. Improve balance and stability
5. Correct imbalances
6. Prevent injuries
Moral of the story? Include unilateral training into your program either as your main lifts or as accessory lifts.

Doesn’t matter if you’re a 15 year old basketball player, a 40 tear old runner or an all star NFL receiver - if you don’t have 35 degrees of ankle dorsiflexion it’s your biggest problem from an msk/Movement perspective
Tight ankles inhibit your glutes. Glute activation has been a very popular topic over for several years now
What most don’t realize is that with locked up ankles and tight anterior hips, you have no hope in hell of activating or building your glutes
Start with solving your ankle mobility problem and many other issues upstream resolve. A big part of the solution is ditching heeled footwear (ie most modern shoes). Oh and those painful grindy knees are also a major side effect of locked up ankles
After 2 years, about 40 adjustments and too many hours listening to my whining, I finally got a chance to treat (torture) Dr. Shaun myself 🤗 He spent many scraping sessions where I threatened to punch him in the face, only to have me sing his praises when I could move my body parts again and I got to return the favor today. Although the redness looks severe, it started to disappear shortly after and the work was not deep. His stuck shoulder blades moved wonderfully afterwards. I often get asked, “what carbs should I eat?”. It’s a valid question, as the media has ruined the reputation of carbs. Everyone considers carbs an enemy now! 🙅🏻♂️.
My answer, eat what helps you keep consistent! For me, that’s couscous. I love them and haven’t got tired of them for over a year now. Eating what I enjoy helps keep me on track. You may like rice, bread, quinoa, fruits & veggies more. If so, eat it!. 🥐🥗🍞🥦🥖

✅Had a much needed 3 hour upper body session with my boy @coryhartman last night. .
🤷♂️He has tried a couple of recovery methods prior seeing me. Acupuncture is one method he had done in the past along with deep tissue massages. Unfortunately, nothing seemed to help him
Today he texted me saying that he felt great! Texts like these are what keeps me going everyday to do what I love doing! We are scheduled for another 3 hour session in less than a week from our first session. In our next session, we are going to be focusing on lower body.
