Food prep.... it comes as no surprise that we need food daily, and if we demand our body to rock through a rigorous workout then its fair to say we need good quality food so we can operate daily as a healthy human being. This does not mean we go on crazy restrictive diets or cuts. Prepping food on a Sunday is a no brainer, it takes about 1-2 hrs MAX to prep and cook food for the following 3-4 days. This saves money and also eliminates the “oh shit its 2pm and I’ve no lunch I’ll just grab a quick sandwich”. If you are investing time and money with a coach or in a commercial gym with a specific goal in mind, if you are not honing in on your nutrition then you are literally throwing your money away. 
Find out what foods you enjoy that are good for you, take simple steps like: ▶️▶️▶️ Increase water intake
▶️▶️▶️ Eliminate sugar
▶️▶️▶️ Keep a food/sleep/training/toilet diary
▶️▶️▶️ Reduce phone use right before bed
▶️▶️▶️ Take 5 mins out to yourself daily
▶️▶️▶️ Eat greens with each meal

Simple steps like above are MASSIVELY important but will not leave you feeling like you are on a “diet”. Some pics attached of our clients food, colour colour colour. So important to have a variety on your plate.

2. Something I'm finding really interesting / cool is how prolific 'healthy' foods are becoming in shops. Between Halo Top, 15 types of nut butter, and everything saying "suitable for vegans" or 'high in protein" I think it's clear that people are more interested in eating in a certain way. They might not understand what high protein or low calorie or anything means, but the fact that these things are on labels means the popularity of it is growing. Yes, most people won't make informed decisions and it will be hard for them to understand the difference between good marketing vs good nutrition choice... But still, I think it's a very small step in the right direction :)

How fitting that #transformationtuesday falls on my 30th birthday. 🤤 .
In the pic on the left I weighed 180 and in the right, I'm about 140 (try not to weigh to often now). In the years between these  photos there have been ups and downs, countless fluctuations, but most importantly that now I'm enjoying the process and doing this for me and my body- not to be as thin as I can. I can't wait to see what 30 holds!!

A lot of people these days are not happy with there appearance or how they look, you are your own motivation, your own will power to achieve what you want. I look at the left photo thinking I look really sick and frail and well underweight which brought me down, everyone body is different with me putting weight on was the hardest thing for me which I struggled to deal with. Where I am now is a different mind set, a happier me with more capabilities and lots more goals that I want to achieve, try not to bring yourself down, look back at where you came from and then look were you are now.

Cheat over the weekend - weigh in today and I’m 103.5kg. It’s coming down rightly. Looking tighter and everything going to plan. No room for error. Starting this year with new resolutions to become healthy and fit? Loose that Christmas weight ? But dreading going to the gym, follow these tips to give you some gym confidence!

1- Try go with a freind or family member, everything is easier when your not alone plus it will make it less of a chore and make it fun.
.
2- Ask questions! The staff working in the gym are there to help you! That is there job so ask lots of questions and ask them to show you how to use machines that your not sure of. Don't be embarrassed because that's what their there for! .
.
3- Watch other people! A great way to learn excersizes is to watch people in the gym even if you look like a bit of a creeper you will learn so much! Check out some fitness instagram accounts and you tubes  to learn more excersizes!  Obviously don't be stupid about it if you see someone doing a back flip into a squat then don't go to the gym the next day trying to do some ninja shit. .

4- make sure to warm up and stretch before starting you work out, injuries are not fun, also on that note if your going to go heavy it's crucial that you make sure you have good form and on moves like a squat or bench press make sure you have a spot!

5- Don't be intimidated in the gym! Your deadlifting a 10 kg bar there's someone next to you lifting 200kg your feeling a bit shit.. well don't! You have every right to be there everyone starts somewhere and everyone has different training needs. .
6- Bring water! Keeping hydrated is important and crucial for having a good workout! Earphones are great for really boosting your working. Girls invest in a good sports bra nothing worse then doing cardio without the right support!

7- If your going to do weights and cardio your amazing x but always do your cardio after! Nothing worse then going for a long run then going to do a set of heavy squats and being so fatigued you can't go as heavy as usuall. .

The videos above were on my story the other day of my failed attempts of my Clean & Jerk lifts from Saturday’s Session.

I missed the lift @100kg which is my 1 Rep Max in this lift ( got it a few weeks ago) but on Saturday it wasn’t happening for me at that weight and that’s perfectly fine 😊.

The barbell doesn’t lie and Will always show who’s boss, I fell in the lift, got thrown back, picked myself back up and tried again and missed again but that doesn’t mean that I will stop, no you live, learn and you grow. I will keep going, keep striving and will get it again eventually 😃🏋🏻.

But just wanted to post the videos to show that it’s not all about the perfect lift 😊. What’s the positive of this? The first solution to any problem is admitting there is one in the first place, then you can see how to more forward with an open mind

🔴FLAT BENCH AND INCLINE BENCH🔴

When doing a chest workout, I focus on both flat bench press and an incline bench press🏋🏼‍♂️ Flat bench press targets your pec major as a primary muscle being worked but since it’s a compound movement, it also works your anterior(front) deltoid and also triceps. 
Incline bench press targets the clavicular portion of the chest (upper) as well as the  secondary muscles, anterior deltoids and triceps👌🏻 When doing Flat Bench ➡️ Lay down flat with your feet kept flat on the floor.
➡️ Grip the bar with your pinky on the O ring on the bar.
➡️ Take a breath in, lower the bar down until you reach your chest, pause, breath out on the way back up.
➡️ Keep elbows in line with your wrists.

When doing Incline Bench it’s quite similar to flat ➡️ Lay on the bench at about 45 degree angle.

One big mistake I made when I first joined the gym was starting the classic "bro split"😔 I literally never done any compound movements at all and thought I would get in great shape hitting each muscle group once a week and that's not how it worksğŸ‘ŽğŸ» if your starting out the best way to get strong is to have a decent program and incorporate your compound movements into your routine! There is definitely a myth out there that a bro split is the way forward and you'll be "shredded" once you stick to it!! You'll definitely make some progress at be beginning but that will come to a grinding halt! Taking the time to cook my own food, my food, just for me was "selfish"
Asking someone to mind the kids and feeling so guilty about it to me was being "selfish". It took a long time for me to realise I wasn't being selfish, I was taking care of myself which are two very different things.  It was also necessary before I ran myself into the ground. 
I know people have busy lives, kids, jobs money but until your willing to take that time for yourself and invest in yourself nothing will change. It's ok to take control and start doing things for yourself. Your friends and family love you, but they are not going to make the changes for you ❌. ▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️ ▪️

Double trouble 🙃🙃 Back day today got in and got it done, I'm on the second week of my cut so strength it still high af and I intend to keep lifting heavy the whole way through prep, in the past I may have made the mistake of lifting lighter coz i was tired but not this time, gonna dig deep and keep that strength up, lose fat and hold on to my baby muscles the only way I can, keep lifting heavaaaaay! Double trouble 🙃🙃 Back day today got in and got it done, I'm on the second week of my cut so strength it still high af and I intend to keep lifting heavy the whole way through prep, in the past I may have made the mistake of lifting lighter coz i was tired but not this time, gonna dig deep and keep that strength up, lose fat and hold on to my baby muscles the only way I can, keep lifting heavaaaaay! So it’s called the pike stretch on bench and all the instructions are in the video. This is a tough little stretch that I heard from the brilliant Coach Sommer the US gymnastics coach. If you are about to use a plate make sure you are able to get palms down on the ground in the pike. If not then go back to the last two parts or use a rope or bands to allow less of a stretch. Again if starting with this go slow and don’t go really intense for the first 2 weeks.

So I might be totally killed for telling this story but if I'm having a bad day (or just there now in a class) this always makes me have a giggle! Still nearly 3 years on!

Cue back to teacher training with @meghancurrie_teachertraining and @nicoluceyoga was teaching us chanting methods. All very good.

Anyhow one evening it was decided to do 108 ohms. Yes, one hundred and eight. OHMS.😑

So half way through I'm doing my best to concentrate (ahh adhd...) and here sure arn't we having a ohm-off between two or three of my fellow trainees......well sweet baby Jesus! I was rocking back n forth with tears streaming down my face not able to breath! Let alone ohm! Then of course I hear someone else (not looking at one of the Canadians!) As we say here, "pissing themselves laughing"! Like a hyena on helium! Like how was I meant to stay composed! Psssfff! No seriously, I did wee myself! I'd sore ribs for DAYS lads!

So for a year after training I couldn't OHM without a fit of the giggles. I got her sort of under control - my regulars know i can still have the "hitch"! But then cue to a new yoga class I actually get to (lovely class I must add) and here comes the ohm.... and E giggling away to herself in the back. I seriously must look deranged! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 like who let's me out like! 😂😂😂😂😂😂

So point is, don't take it all to seriously! Have a laugh and be that lunatic in the corner! 😂😂😂😂coz fuck it, your only here once!
