The blockbuster trade was a real head scratcher for me. I'm not convinced that Kyrie Irving is a significant upgrade to Isaiah Thomas so why give up more than just Isaiah Thomas for him. If I'd do this Trade I'd do Isaiah for Kyrie straight up because their production was about the same. The Caveliers just added the same player they already had except for now they have two guards Thomas and Rose who play little to no Defense. Crowder is redundant with Iman Shunpert but yet you keep his contract on the books. If the goal is to actually be competitive in the Finals this go around they've done a poor job. What the Cavs really needed was a point guard who can play defense and run an offense while Lebron rests. They also needed a defensive wing that can take some pressure off of Lebron. I think that the two players help but not much. The Nets pick was just dumb for the Celtics to give up, but for the Cavs why get it? The point is to try to keep Lebron on roster not give up and rebuild already.
What do you guys think? I'm a being hard on this trade? Am I underrating Kyrie Irving? Was he worth a top 5 pick and another possible number one selection?
