Today I had a job interview at a company that praises itself for sustainability, they recycle a lot, use bicycles, green cars and try to save energy wherever possible. However when I asked about their consumption of meat (biological but still), they reacted very shortly that it's a matter of personal choice. What do you think, when it's about another creatures life, is it still a matter of personal choice?

#influence#takecontrol
I was listening to a sermon by @kb_hga today and man this stood out. "If we have figured out a way to share Jesus without being offensive, we have figured out a way to do something that Jesus himself couldn't do" Meaning that its impossible. So stop worrying about it! Step out in faith and show his love! This is a great struggle for me. At times I feel unworthy or to dirty. I listen to the lie, “why would they listen to me” it’s time for us to step out in faith stop letting your struggles define who you are in Jesus. Let Jesus define who you are through Him! The president doesn’t define me! My country doesn’t define me! My friends don’t define me! My struggles don’t define me! My guns don’t define me! My political party doesn’t define me! It’s time to stop trying to find ourselves in anything other than Christ alone. #period#wakingup#stepoutinfaith#jesusistheanswer#grace#love#peace#joy#kindness#gentleness#patience#goodness#faithfulness#selfcontrol
"Be true to yourself, help others, make each day your masterpiece, make friendship a fine art, drink deeply from good books - especially the Bible, build a shelter against a rainy day, give thanks for your blessings and pray for guidance every day."

Raise your hand if you're guilty of feeling guilty for wanting to take care of yourself 🖐🏼 I know I am! •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••REPEAT: Self-care is not selfish •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••Self-care is so important even if it's just a bath or good book and some hot tea, or playing hookie from work. It sets up your mental state and overall health on the right foot to take care of the ones you love best! You can't pour from an empty vessel! So here's to honoring ourselves and taking the time to focus, catch up, and just BREATHE. Double tap if you feel the same way. 💜
Our best intentions make no difference in this world. Discussing the issues of the world and ways to solve them or complaining about them does nothing. And while we may feel small while looking at the vastness of the universe, our souls are enormous. A small change in our own selves can change the entire world. It’s all about how we perceive the world and ourselves. If we choose to see the beauty of the world, and choose to see things with love, we are living from our soul, our authentic self. Fear is just an illusion we let ourselves believe in. Only our belief in it makes it real. Today I challenge you to make small goals towards change in your own heart. Let love illuminate your life, and spread it with those around you. As others who are hurting see your light, they will realize they also have that same light within themselves and find healing. Spread love, light, and kindness.
Being empathetic means not being a dick and instead choosing to understand and connect with another human's experiences.
When we experience empathy it improves our own mental and physical health because we feel validated and understood. When we practice it, it makes us less self-absorbed, better humans. It's a way of truly connecting and expanding our consciousness and human existence.
Want to give it a try?
The next time someone is complaining, explaining their feelings or asking for help, don't respond with 'suck it up,' 'cheer up, it's not that bad' or 'I don't get it, why don't you just x.'
Try saying, "Yea, it sounds like you're feeling really (insert emotion here)," or "It sounds like your need for (love, acceptance, respect, autonomy, rest ((you know what humans need)) isn't being met."
Give that person space to feel understood and validated. Our experiences are all different but our feelings and needs as humans are universal. You might be surprised at how good it feels. #moreempathyplease
“I’ve got you” is the phrase we’ve said to our kids since they were babies during times of anger, sadness, pain etc etc. We deliberately chose this phase so that we were able to convey to our Children that we were there for them and understood their feelings while allowing them to experience and actually express those raw feelings. Feelings that can be so difficult to navigate as a young child. We did not want to tell our children “you’re ok” or how to feel. We wanted them to acknowledge and trust their own feelings of anger, happiness, sadness and pain while letting them know we would be there for them and walk them through their experiences. It came 360’ when our children started using that phrase during pretend play and telling their baby dolls or even each other “I’ve got you”. Each of their bedrooms will get one of these in the hopes that our children know that feelings are hard and not fun sometimes but we will always be there to support their journey. #ivegotyou#feelings#parenting#love#support#kindness#autonomy

The headmaster in Nakabango told me that Patricia comes to him every morning asking for some shillings; he comes prepared and she uses the money to buy two of these little pancakes. She was enjoying this one during church on Sunday. She offered to share; I declined but thanked her for the offer. #uganda#patricia#kindness
