Jawa Mee, or Mee Jawa in Bahasa Malaysia, is a Penang Nyonya-inspired noodle soup. Despite its name, Jawa Mee has its origin in the Peranakan kitchen far and away from Java. The type of Jawa Mee sold by hawkers has the noodle swimming in a transparent tomato-based gravy. It is topped with boiled eggs, boiled potatoes, one or two prawns, fritters, slices of beancurd, a sprinkling of fried grounded peanuts, and chilli paste to taste. The combinations of the sweet and sour taste and sometimes a little bit of spicy would give a whole new experience to your taste bud.

I marinated a @jordos_chop_shop pork neck for two days in merlot, peppercorns, carrots, red peppers and spring onions. Slow roasted it with a little chicken stock and the marinade, reduced the juices and served with rice and a glorious @shawvineyardestate Merriman Merlot. Sunday roast? In a fancy way, yeah 👌 #shawvineyardestate#canberrawines#porkroast#slowcooker
