Our beautiful farm house in the snow. Who knows when we will get a snow like this again? Thanks to the awesome ladies in my neighborhood for capturing this while I was stuck inside on video calls all day!!!
There will always be someone willing to do the work for cheaper. But keep in mind that you get what you pay for. Superior quality, proper installation and loyal service are invaluable when it comes to a product you want to last a lifetime. #superiorquality#metalroof#londonecometal
#roof#metalroof#roofs#roofcity#rooftop
I took this photo as I walked home from work this afternoon, admiring the way the late day sun was setting on this northwest corner of the house. When planning this house we embraced the notion of utilizing light (both natural and artificial) as a building material. It was important for us to be cognizant of how light, with its ephemeral qualities, invariably alters a space. Since moving here in June, we’ve witnessed how light affects each room in our home depending on the atmosphere and season: Light and its shadows, how they work in tandem to accentuate forms and ornamentation — the curve of cove moulding, the chamfered edges of balusters, the bevel on a paneled door. Light and texture. Light describes a surface as if reading it like braille. It’s in the low sun that the herringbone pattern of a tile floor begins to speak. The sheen of a painted surface glares, providing contrast. In light, the perfect, innate inconsistencies of materials like stone, brick, and wood are revealed. Light highlights flaws (yes new homes have them too) — nail pops, scratches, dents, and dings; some of which is evidence you’re actually LIVING there! Light also conceals and sanitizes. It’s easy to ignore messes, imperfections, all those dents and dings when cloaked in light. Light establishes scale and defines boundaries. It can make a room feel grand with its bright streaks and long shadows cast. It can make a space feel small, retreating into dim corners. Light saturates color, awakening hues otherwise unnoticed. In this house bright sun brings out a variety of blues in the cabinets and can illuminate the cherry countertops and brass hardware, as if the wood and metal itself is incandescent. Most profoundly, light affects emotion. It’s sometimes hopeful. It’s sometimes melancholy. It’s a beginning and an end. Here in Ohio, entire winter days can be overcast. But, on some of those days, if we’re lucky, the reticent winter sun finally breaks through the haze in its final hour and makes a brief appearance, as if to say, “I’m still here”, brummating above the cloud layer.
