Adventure’s in my Dad’s hat from when he would go hunting a long time ago. It’s not the most stylish, but it protects me from the sun like no other. It makes me happy to know I look a little silly; then I always remember to smile and keep my eyes peeled to the world around me. I’ve had his hat for over 11 years now. It’s been into the Grand Canyon, New Zealand, Australia, Brazil, Two National Parks, and various states. The next adventure awaits. #MondayMemories#adventuring#camohat#wheretonext#nature

--PartTwo: After the shot, we waited about twenty minutes to head down to take a look at things. By that time, my dad had joined us and we started down the hill and was happy to see very good blood at the shot location, although Amber knew exactly where the beast was lying. It had piled up in a very nasty location, in a thicket so impassable the rabbits wouldn't even go in, under a huge log and in a creek bed... It was a true endeavor getting her out of there! Coolest part behind this hunt, other than bear stew for months and sharing this hunt with the wifey and several members of the family is that the bear was tagged in both ears, as part of a black bear study in the late 90's with the NC State University Zoology Dept(see email enclosed where I reached out to one of the Professors who was over this study). She was tagged in June of 1999, as a 2.5 year old weighing 80lbs, one county over (15miles) from where I harvested her. When I took her in 2013, she was 16-years old, an incredible age for a bear in an area that sees a ton of bear hunting pressure! She weighed in just under 300lbs, and was 6-ft long nose to tail, and provided many meals for my family and friends, as well as a beautiful bear skin rug and a cool Euro that I done. I found out later that the other bear we were seeing was harvested a few miles from where I took mine and was nearly 400lbs! Those beast together were wreaking havoc on my deer hunting that year, as I wasn't getting near the pictures or seeing the sign that I was accustomed to. I watched deer on multiple occasions that year acting more cautious and timid than any deer I had ever hunted. Once I took my bear, it was like a light switch turning on, as the deer immediately went back to their normal pattern. In saying that, I'm so glad those bear showed up, as they produced so much excitement and many meals and memories for me and my family. This was definitely a hunt that I will remember as long as I live!
#MondayMemories I can't think of too many groups that have a legacy like #PNC ..... bet you can't either. They stole our hearts 20 some years ago & never let up! I can think of no more classic duo than them. Who else can rock a show/party/event where 3 or more generations know the words to every song? #PNC4LYFE
--Part One: It was opening day of Bear Season here in WNC today and can't help but reminisce a bit about opening day of the 2013 season. I took that day off from work as we had a couple of huge bears that were frequent visitors to the piece of land we were hunting. I stayed in the woods all day and had my camera setup self filming the hunt, hoping to capture some good footage; around 3:30pm, my wife called and wanted to come sit with me hoping one of the beasts would make an appearance before dark; I tell her I've not seen a thing all day, but she gets to the stand around 4pm anyway. I took the camera down and handed it to her when she arrived, thinking the footage would be better with her filming and I could focus solely on the shot if by chance one of the bears showed up. We put a plan together, discussing how things would go down if a shot was to present itself. She must of had some sort of premonition that evening because she told me that I was going to get a shot at 5:33pm, and I was like "yeah, ok".... Low and behold, at 5:30pm, I catch movement down the hill below me and sure enough, one of the big bears was working it's way right in front of us picking up acorns. I told Amber to get ready because it was about to go down. The bear is within feet of my shooting lane and I'm hoping that the wifey has captured some good footage, so I ask her, "Are you Ready," to which I get no response, I then ask two more times, same thing, me not realizing that she never heard me whispering to her and by now, the bear is right in my shooting lane, so I let my Winchester Model 70 .270WSM rip, in which Amber drops the camera to the floor of the blind because she wasn't prepared for the shot... (Turn the volume up because the commentary is amazing, "Ohhh, my ears!!!"😂😂). After the shot, we discussed whether the shot was true and where did the bear go, because I was so intently focused on the shot and then the camera falling to the ground that I never saw which way the bear went, although I give immense props to Amber because she was dialed in on every step the bear took and where it crashed. She was also dead-on with the time of the shot, 5:33pm, Unreal!!
#MondayMemories Tony, Wallace & Suga G ...... I remember this Saturday because a few minutes after this a ton of bikes, cars & artists showed up, not to record but to go at each others' necks in the gameroom #HITZ
These are pictures from my birthday this past weekend.
I turned #27 and was lucky enough to visit my sister, my alma mater Chico State, and other friends & mentors in Sacramento.
Growing up I thought at some point my perspective would shift from KID ➡ ADULT.
That magically, one day, I’d wake up and it would click.
📈I’d understand how stocks and taxes work
🛀 I’d have a house and mortgage and shop at bed bath and beyond for new bath mats (if I had time) #oldschool#willferrell
🕴️I’d know exactly what I wanted to do with my life
But it doesn’t just click overnight. For anyone.
And I’m the same person I’ve always been. I don’t feel like an adult. I’m still the KID I remember being. I’ve just experienced and learned more.
Life is spiritual for me because I feel like the spectator of my physical being. I’m simply the deeper consciousness who watches the evolution of a human and his environment.
The journey that this perspective creates is amazing.
I’ve grown incredibly from 26 to 27:
💼 Quit my corporate job
🔼 Started multiple businesses and projects
📉 Failed and quit multiple projects
📚Guest lectured to university students at #chicostate
💸Made multiple terrible financial decisions that set me back thousands of $
🏠 Moved apartments
💔 Experienced the deepest love and connection I’d ever felt… and lost it
📝Became a published writer
🤦Disappointed and embarrassed myself socially
🏃♂️Ran a #ToughMudder
🎤Performed 5 minute stand up comedy routine in front of 200+ @helium_pdx
🔗Met hundreds (if not thousands) of amazing people
🏖#Thailand trip ❌Lost contact with multiple friends and strained family relationships
I’ve felt the highs of success and happiness, the lows of sadness and failure… but ALL of it has taught me lessons.
It all contributes to who I am... and I’m excited to see what’s next. I can’t always control what happens, but I can choose to determine how I react.
Here’s to another year of living and learning 🍻
