I’m so excited about this painting and color scheme called n a t u r e w a l k by @colorcrushcreative 🏔 It totally resonated with me and pushed me to pull out some nature inspired colors that reminded me of one of my favorite times and places. This painting is of the incredible rides we take into the aspen trees and pine trees in the Bear Lake mountains (Utah) each fall. Those mountains are such a kindred spirit of mine. There was a son of the Titans who had fought against Zeus, called Prometheus. Prometheus did not want to live amongst the clouds on Mount Olympus. While the gods were spending their time in idleness, drinking nectar and eating ambrosia, he was planning how to make the world wiser and better than it had ever been before. Prometheus went out amongst men to live with them and help them. He found humans living in caves and in holes of the earth, shivering with the cold because there was no fire, dying of starvation, hunted by wild beasts and by one another the most miserable of all living creatures. So Prometheus decided to snuck quietly into Zeus' domain and stole a spark from Zeus' own lightning bolt. Prometheus hurried back to his own land, carrying with him the precious spark hidden in the hollow center of the plant. He called some of the shivering people from their caves and built a fire for them, and showed them how to warm themselves by it and use it to cook their food. Men and women gathered round the fire and were warm and happy, and thankful to Prometheus for the wonderful gift which he had brought to them.

Moose doesn’t care about statistics but he appreciates quantity of time spent outdoors. Reaching 1,049,000 vertical feet in a calendar year for 2016 meant spending 836 hours or 34 full days running on trails. Need to set another unnecessary statistic goal for 2018.
Day 6 of #21daysofbrave today @meredithcbullock talks about being brave enough to paint, about simplifying the process of making art to fit it in our day, to get it done. I completely relate, this week I will try to paint #mountolympus on board and for some reason it's much more intimidating than on paper... #acrylicpaint#landscape#utahlandscape
