Just when you think you've failed at about everything in your life, your orchid blossoms for a second time. A reminder that much of growth happens beneath the surface through consistently doing the daily work. After time and perseverance, the visible changes come as a beautiful reward. My responsibilities were simple - I just added water and positioned the plant in some sunlight. The Creator orchestrated the internal workings and chemistry to cause the blossom to appear. My spiritual life comes down to some simple things to build my relationship with Jesus, but the Redeemer is truly the one who restores, transforms, and brings forth beauty.
I love this ever-growing mural at camp. A simple illustration showing the most shocking change in the world: from Death to Life. We were dead. Jesus came. Now, we live with transplanted new hearts. Nothing changes you the way that choosing Jesus does. All it takes is the faith of a child, to call on the Savior.
Did you know, that if you whip brownies out of the oven and immediately shove candles in them, you get a nice little wax infusion in your dessert?! 😂😜😅🕯happy birthday, Katie! I'm thankful for a fun evening, where only the dessert was slightly in danger 😉Dinner and company were good gifts!
m y | desert heart beats happiest here... at Pappy & Harriet's 🌵. There is seriously no place I'd rather see live music, under clear blue, starry desert skies, with dust under the feet, big chunks of meat on the grill, and icy old beers from the cantina (well that's a bit of a fib actually, I don't like beer...but the rest is my flow). Pappy's is literally in the middle of nowhere, in a town called Pioneertown in the Mojave, that was built to be used as a country and western movie set. When I was living in LA, I would come out here every couple of months - an easy 2hr drive. Good times guaranteed. Amazing characters. A good ol-fashioned hoedown. Last summer I watched Lorn Huron (with @widowspeaking) rock it out. This summer - as all the sideshows for Coachella are announced - Pappy's will play host to names like Little Dragon, Nicholas Jaar, Jagwa, Glass Animals, Future Islands, and so many more. Paul McCartney has played there, so have the Arctic Monkeys, and that's what I love about it. The big names roll in, but just as impressive are the little local bands who rock up as well. This is where I'm happy ❤️. Pioneertown | July, 2015. #mymojave#itsbeautifulhere
