Rice + Kimchi

So @pete_wells of the @nytimes released his list of NYC’s Top Restaurants of 2017 and @atoboynyc made the list! Congratulations to @jparkato, @elliapark, and everybody there who make it a special place!
Rice and kimchi is a staple of Korean cuisine. This was Atoboy’s take: gim (seaweed) rice with Korean radish kimchi (kkakdugi) and eggplant kimchi. What’s cool is how Atoboy can take the humblest of meals and transform it into something special. In fact, the very first time I visited the restaurant, I loved everything I tried but their mushroom rice left the strongest impression on me. 😋
Anyways, congrats again on a well-deserved accolade @atoboynyc !

In the Bowl👆🏻: oats cooked on the stovetop with chia seeds + @bobsredmill ground flax + cinnamon + vanilla extract + shredded coconut + @so_delicious coconut milk. Topped that off with banana slices + pomegranate seeds + @sunfood goji berries + @navitasorganics cacao nibs + @artisanaorganics coconut butter drizzle.
Tonight! @eastbostonoysters in the house! We got 2 buck oysters all night from Glidden Point where the farmer is shucking them in house! Caviar & Creme Fraiche ice cream from @parloricecreamco , All you can eat Caviar +++Cocktails and Bubbles galore. It's Monday but you can still pretend it's Friday. layers on layers 🔥 I love saving extra smoothie to layer with chia pudding to make it that much more creamy and get a little added flavor and texture. otherwise I find chia pudding to be so plain 🤔 layered banana chia pudding with a little leftover berry smoothie, some @purely_elizabeth original granola, market figs, dark chocolate and cacao nibs. also mixed in some @ora.organic probiotic powder into the chia 🌸 cheers Monday!
I first came to @atoboynyc not knowing who the chefs are. All I know is theres a restaurant that serves small plates modern Korean food, and I want to try it. Little did I know the chef is the former chef de cuisine from Jung Sik, the Michelin-starred Korean fine dining restaurant in Manhattan. (They also have a Jung Sik in Seoul)
So I was pleasantly surprised with how good the dishes are. Somehow everything is so modern from plating to flavor combination and yet, it still preserves the traditional korean flavors.
The pork jowl is beautifully seared on the outside but still tender inside with the right amount of chew. The ssam jjang sauce paired with the cipollini onions creates a good balance to counter the fattiness of the pork. The barley is also nice, though quite bland. And I think it’s kind of redundant in a way, since it is served with your choice of white or seaweed rice (choose seaweed, trust me). I don’t think it’s their best dish. Though I definitely love the plating. #kyfaeats

I would like to personally thank @thefeedfeed x @bobsredmill for officially putting me in the holiday spirit with their cookie exchange party this past weekend 🍪🍪🍪🍪 It was such a sweet event where I had the opportunity to meet a few new wonderful people, while also catch up with some of my friends. It’s crazy how I only started this account less than a year ago and already have so many people that I’ve grown to care about. How lucky am I!? So as always, all my thanks to you lovely humans for giving me the platform to meet so many inspiring humans. I am beyond grateful for all, dare I say, 15,000 of you !! Woke up to that little number today and did a little dance in my bed hahaha 😘 HAPPY MONDAY CUTIES!
Day 1 of interventional radiology calls for dreamy MAPLE banana bread OATS 😍🍌Happy Monday guys! ❤️
In a mason jar combine: ½ c @bobsredmill gf oats, 1 scoop @nuzest_usa vanilla plant protein powder (MEDGAL for discount), 1 tbsp @salbachia chia seeds + 1 tsp @justspices_us oatmeal spice blend, 1/4 tsp cinnamon + about 1 c unsweetened almond milk+ ½ smashed banana. In the am, transfer to bowl heat in microwave 2-3 min. Adjust milk to your liking. Drizzle @parkersrealmaple thick & rich pure maple syrup and @georgiagrinders amazing maple caramel almond butter 😍 Sprinkle @purely_elizabeth limited holiday edition pumpkin spice granola (contains ashawaganda)over the top and enjoy! 😘
