Using foundation is a defunct concept for me. Nature’s replete with healing oils for every skin type. Depend on them such that you need make-up for enhancement, not camouflage. So, if I use a primer or highlighter, it’s to dramatise, or bring to a further HD-clarity forefront, the benefits of those oils on the skin.
If you’re going to show me a facial primer that’s an oil, I’ll be wanting to know more. I visited the brand-spankin’ New @smashboxcosmetics store at DLF Promenade, sans make-up, to check out their collection.
Their primer oil has 15 plant-extract essential oils, including jojoba for acne-prone skins, and chamomile for sensitive, redness-prone skins. Speaking of the latter, here’s a green-tone complexion correcting primer that’s aimed at making the face appear less red, and minimising the appearance of large pores, and fine lines (I looked for products relevant for my skin type). This primer has extracts of safflower seed, aloe vera, lemongrass, and orchid extracts; which give you clean, toned, porcelain-like glowing skin, through their combined antioxidant, humectant, and cellular reparative action. Yes, I read the ingredients list, and I’ll make doing that fashionable and classy again, if that’s the last thing I do in my profession.
Primers prepare the skin for the aesthetic excitement of makeup. Have some respect for the product, and your skin, by giving the primer a healthy and clean canvas to work with.
I also wanted to see what they had on offer in tribute to the Pantone Colour of 2018, ‘Ultraviolet’. The shade of purple you see when you swipe is the closest I could get to it, but I do believe there’s something exciting hitting the store soon! You definitely want to experiment with their new Be Legendary metallic liquid lip colours and pigments.
I’ve my firm favourites in the primer/highlighter department, but I’ll be more than happy to give Smashbox a try, on the confidence-inducing recommendation and personal experience narrative of the forever-smiling and forever-fabulous @rasnabhasin ❤️❤️ #Thinking Totty #newdelhi#smashboxindia#smashbox#primers#lipsticks#metallic#newstore#dlfpromenade#festiveseason#beautyblogging
