Sometimes it just feels like being in a science fiction 🇮🇸

So it's that time of year when I reflect upon my favorite photographic moments. This year, I'm not making a Top 10 list. Quite simply, it's too hard. Our list of things we did is simply amazing in retrospect. How amazing? Well... We explored the artic circle and danced under the northern lights, we climbed three volcanos, watched a cheetah hunt in the wild, gazed at the Milky Way over Mt. Kilamanjaro in Africa, stared a lion straight in his eyes in the wild, hiked the Alaskan and Canadian wilderness, explored ice caves beneath a glacier, river boated along Amazonian rivers in Brazil in search of jaguars, got stuck in an Amazonian rain storm, and I even learned Portuguese to name a few. But most of all, we enjoyed many days with our closest friends and family. I took many many photos. So many I could never share them all here. Here's one from Iceland back in April.
A display of the northern lights viewed from deep within a fjord is surely one of the highlights to any trip to @visitnordlys, the veritable cherry on top. You will need some luck all the same, its the chase that's just part of the fun! #norway#northernnorway#visitnordlys
I love these new wooden paths in #fäboda ❤️☺️ I have so many plans for my christmas holidays I can barely contain myself. Still feeling a bit sick, but I think I’ll be able to go to school tomorrow #auroraborealis#northernlights#stars

The World at Night project
A winter evening in a traditional Sami village near Kiruna in Swedish Lapland. The cultures of the far north have deep connections to aurora borealis.
Find the Ursa Major (the Big Bear) at top right with its seven brighter stars (the Big Dipper) standing like a question mark. Polaris is at the top left and bright star Arcturus is on the horizon (right). Wonder where and when to see the lights, see my @natgeo web article “7 Magical Places to View Auroras”. Google aurora natgeo, and follow @babaktafreshi for more.

Blue lagoon, Iceland 🇮🇸 I love a spa. I love giving the body well earned relaxation time which is something we don’t do enough. It goes without saying your time in Iceland is not complete without visiting the blue lagoon. Probably the most recognisable thermal spa in the world. ✈️🇮🇸
