Simple to make + extremely delicious

You will need:
Bone broth or veg broth
Fennel bulb
Fresh ginger
Fresh chilli
Spinach
Onion
Garlic
Pesto
Spring Onions

Sweat garlic, onions, sliced carrot and sliced fennel

Add sliced garlic + chilli
—
Add broth and leave to simmer
—
When carrots + fennel are soft add spinach

Season + take off heat + blend

Lightly fry sliced spring onions in coconut oil

I've never really liked salads. 🍌 We had a smoothie for brekky and several hours later realised we were super hungry, so I whipped up this nourishing bowl for us with some leftover turmeric quinoa from last night’s dinner, chopped up the raw veg we had in the fridge & steamed some sweet potato & kale

Misty here again. Several of you have expressed interest in stress management. I hope to touch on this in each post this week. First let’s address movement!!! Exercise is a major stress relief for me. My day starts with a 30 minute walk. I try to mix up where I go each day. Of course, I take my puppy dog with me and sometimes she decides where we go. 
At least 3 days per week I like to go to my local gym and focus on strength training. Going to the gym isn’t always easy for me due to conflicts in my schedule. I make up for this by doing exercise at home. It varies on what I do each day. Somedays I do Yoga, kettle bells, body weight routines, and maybe just stretch. I do my best to get in at least 15 minutes of strength training when at home. 
I feel a sense of relief after I complete these movements. Honestly, some days I just get my walk in and feel good about that. It really is a great form of stress relief.

Yesterday I spent the day at the hospital working with my doctors on my next level treatment plan and I realized that having this disease is no longer something I want hidden.
•
So, here goes. Nearly two years ago, I woke up, and prepared for the day as I normally do. As I was brushing my teeth, I suddenly noticed I had a mouth full of blood. And that’s the day my Lupus journey began.
•
Lupus is knows as the disease of 1000 faces because of the way this it affects each person on an individual basis. Symptoms can differ from one person to the next drastically making it hard to diagnose. I have personally seen over a dozen different doctors and done countless tests before landing on this diagnosis.
•
A few things I have learned along the way…
1️⃣My belief that we are here on this Earth to guide and teach others what we have learned is not only our gift but our responsibility. It would be easy for me to tuck in Lupus as it’s not something you can see. But I know, if I am able to help another navigate this disease, I am doing my best work.
2️⃣There is always a silver lining. Seven years ago, after my twins were born, my son battled a life threatening disease called necrotizing enterocolitis. During the darkest time of my life, I forged a friendship with his primary nurse whom has become like a sister to me. I know that in every challenging situation there is a silver lining and for me that usually comes in the form of amazing people. So now, I have found the courage to speak my truth of what’s really been going on with me in the hopes that I can help another.
3️⃣Sometimes, you have no choice but to blend western and eastern medicine and that’s ok.  Not only is ok, but it’s a blessing to have ALL the tools. I’ll share more on what’s working for me naturally for pain relief, sleep, energy and much more in posts to come.
4️⃣Sugar is the enemy that feeds ALL auto-immune and an addiction that I battle on the daily!

Below is a letter that I wrote to my parents. They are learning and experiencing the healing powers of our herbal teas. I thought you too, may appreciate the information. I did my best to appropriately alter it for this post.

The teas are the gentlest way to nourish the body, detox and revitalize your systems. The herbs release toxins from the body and flush away poor dietary behavior (literally); and although it may be uncomfortable in the early stages of detoxification, the body will eventually begin to rid itself of the acidic blockages and calcified matter that are wreaking havoc in your body. And as the body receives these diverse vitamins and minerals from our gardens on a consistent basis, you will be able to maintain a healthier body weight, and posses a new-found energy to take life on, and to live out your mature years with a youthful disposition; most importantly void of pain!

This is a pivotal "point of return" right now. Fatigue, foggy brain, stomach pains, nerve spasms, numbness, itchy skin, irregularities, depression, weakness, lack of libido, swelling, tightness in the chest, shortness of breath, insomnia, and body aches, are the body's natural defense system signaling you to make some very important life changes. You are smart to take any and all of these symptoms seriously.

Careful and thoughtful decisions with regard to what fuel you put into your body and how much rest and hydration you prioritize every day and night are your tickets to your personal longevity, health and vitality (for real)! Improved circulation, reduced inflammation, and optimal weight are what you will truly experience when consuming these herbs over time. If you are someone who is significantly overweight, you should expect consistent visits to the bathroom for quite some time. At first your visits to the bathroom may seem unpleasant, but gradually as the body begins to alkalize through healthy nutrition, hydration and rest, the visits to the bathroom will be more and more gentle and comfortable. I really admire this post by @saggysara and I think that posts are really important for body conscious girls who are ashamed of their curves. Even though I exercise 3-4 times a week, my stomach looks like the photo on the right and there is nothing wrong with that. My body is healthy. There's nothing wrong with the photo on the left either, our stomach shape fluctuates throughout the day depending on what we have eaten, and can also change if we change our posture and due to hormonal changes. Bloating is normal. Having a stomach that isn't flat is normal. Having a stomach that is flat is also normal. I don't agree with thin shaming or fat shaming. I have experienced both and it is very embarrassing, unpleasant and completely uneccessary. Practicing self love, self acceptance and acknowledging that there is no perfect body shape is the secret to feeling content. Care for your body, nourish your body with good food and exercise ❤ more research has been conducted establishing a relationship between gut health and mental health, so by taking care of the body with healthy and nutritious food, we can also help our mental health. To quote @rupaulofficial 'if you don't love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else?

Slowly getting back to my regular grind after an unexpected and UNWELCOME visit from the stomach bug this past weekend. 
Aside from adequate rest and hydration, one of the best ways to promote recovery post sickness (injury, surgery, or pretty much anything that throws you off your game) is through good clean nutrition. All the wonderful things Mother Nature has to offer, nutritionally, can work wonders on a body weakened by illness or injury. It’s pretty awesome stuff!
We’ve all heard the old adage “food is fuel”, but, in essence, food is so much more...The foods we eat, or more importantly, the TYPES of foods we eat can make all the difference in our overall health and wellness. .
Now, don’t get me wrong, big greasy cheeseburgers taste great! And, I for one LOVE me some Marble Slab Creamy, Texas Roadhouses, Olive Garden, etc, But those aren’t 24/7, 365 choices. It’s all about balance, 80/20. .
To promote health and wellness, nourish your body with good things 80% of the time, leaving the other 20% for whatever you want (your sanity is important, too). It’s simple. It’s effective. It’s doable.

first day of finals is done! i came home to this amazing salad. sriracha baked tofu from trader joe’s, cucumber, carrot, red pepper, and avocado drizzled with a homemade peanut sauce (1 tbsp natural peanut butter, 1/2 tbsp sriracha, 1 clove garlic, 1/2 tsp rice vinegar, and about 1 tbsp water to thin it out). it was so tasty and perfectly spicy. i definitely recommend it!
