I spent a lot of Saturday abusing myself and my new sadistic friends.
For anyone that reads my captions (😪😂) you'll know I've not been getting on well with back squat recently.
So set after set after set of paused squats, tweaking form after each one, now has me with bar burn across my back (still), but feeling a shit tonne more confident with form and getting myself out of that deep ass hole I keep insisting on putting myself in.
Not quite back up to full strength, but this is the most weight I've moved comfortably in more months than I'd like to admit to (but will if you buy me a donut)
15 freaking sets. Shown is 60kg/70kg/80kg/80kg/90kg. Did have a go at 100kg but bottled it half way back up 🤦🏼

everything may go wrong and the internal mental diatribe will usually blurt out “I never want to run again” & “I don’t want to do this anymore” but for whatever reason, the “marathon” is worth all the setbacks, uncertainties, and pain. cheers 🍻 & thank you to the 2 friends who asked, “are you running the (LA) marathon tomorrow?” & “did you run the marathon yesterday?” back when i knew zilch about long distance racing & had no idea why they thought running was in my repertoire of skills. (I only took 2 sips of the 🍺 hoping it would help drop the highly escalated bsg. yes, the married with children theme song is still playing in my head & I still don’t understand why everyone was lying down on the ground to pose for mirror images with the Bean). Chicago 🏙was pretty cool but SF 🌉still possesses my favorite race course because I am a hill runner 😬.

What a way to spend a Saturday. To say I am proud of myself, my teammate, and the rest of the runners that were crazy enough to take on this adventure would be an understatement. I've ran lots of races before. I've hit the wall before. But, this time, I hit the wall AND the wall fell on top of me. I've never felt so scared, helpless, and confused during a race before. I ran my first 11 laps up and down the mountain at a consistent pace. Lap 12 broke me about half a mile from the finish. I became light headed, my left eye, chin, and hands were tingly. My tongue felt swollen. I couldn't even run down the hill. Every 50-100m or so I had to stop, bend over, and close my eyes. I made it back to @susiesu.h for our 5 burpee handoff, and just crashed on the ground for 10 min. @coachtjquinn forced me to drink some coke, and then I had the energy to get up and ATE ALL THE FOOD. Thanks to @sprout_seoul for donating tons of extra dishes, because I shoveled food into my mouth like I hadn't eaten all day (even though I ate something every half hour). And thanks to Mama @flutterbike for the Nutter Butter and Chips Ahoy that I also destroyed. I finally got my energy back in time to go out on my final lap, except this time, TJ practically bribed me with ice cream to walk the entire lap. My consistent 22-26 min laps turned into a 45-50 min stroll, with the promised ice cream at the top 😂 Would I do this race again? Absolutely. Would I take it on differently? Absolutely. I thought I was fueling enough, but as TJ said, my body was probably in glucose shock because I didn't have any donuts... 🍩
