As of September 15, 2017... We've received 79 boxes and packages in our post office box
and the homes of two of our volunteers.
559 quilts & blankets have been donated through Austin Disaster Relief Network (adrn.org). 279 of those blankets were made by our local volunteers.
47 came through donations left at Honey Bee Quilt Store
On Saturday, September 16, 2017, 180 MORE blankets were collected for delivery.
These blankets have come from 29 states and 1 Canadian province.
We've received blankets from a Project Linus group in Illinois, a 10-year-old girl, a Girl Scout Troop in North Carolina, Quilt Guilds across the country and the list goes on and on!
By Saturday, September 16, we had already received another 180!
We will continue to deliver blankets to ADRN for distribution for those children who need them. Blankets or quilts received after ADRN no longer needs them will go to one of the Central Texas facilities we regularly supply. #quiltsforgood#quiltsforharvey#linusconnection#texasstrong#quiltsfortexas#nonprofit#atxcharity#volunteer
One top done for #quiltsforharvey
I have to pick up some batting tomorrow, and will get it done this week, hopefully! Plus I have enough fabric leftover to make a second one, hoping I can find the time as well! ❤️❤️❤️
48 more blocks, a complete quilt top set, ready for #quiltsforharvey
Hoping to get another full set finished in the next few days to send off to @mel_is_a_swapaholic #charityquilt#quilting#quiltblocks
If anyone has random 2" strips they don't need or want, I'd be happy to incorporate them into more blocks. Just need to be at least 9" long. DM for address ❤️❤️
The response to #quiltsforharvey has been amazing. However, we need some money to ship all of the quilts. If you're willing to make a donation please go to PayPal and make a donation to quiltsforHarvey@gmail.com #godbless
When you have a lifting restriction and packages to ship for hurricane relief, it's baby in the carrier, packages balanced on the lightest stroller you own. One box for the Texas Diaper Bank and one for #quiltsforharvey ! Special thanks to @mel_is_a_swapaholic for collecting quilt blocks and organizing volunteers to get them sewn and quilted. I have way too many unfinished projects laying around and it's just unrealistic to think I would ever get back to all of them. I'm so thankful that they can be put to good use. It's a great example of how everyone can contribute in their own way - although I can't finish these quilts, I can donate the materials. Someone else may not have materials but can donate their time and talents. We can do so much together!!
DO YOU WANT THIS QUILT?!? And have you been meaning to donate towards hurricane relief but haven't yet? Then you may be the lucky recipient of this quilt!
RULES: Donate any amount to the charity of your choice (do your research! Some of the big names have very low percentages of what actually goes toward relief). DM me a screen shot of a receipt or email proof of your donation. The person with the highest donation receives this quilt as a thank you from me! I'll cover shipping in the continental U.S. That's it! Ends midnight Wednesday September 20
EDIT: Please note that donations must be RECENT. Past donations (donations that predate this post) not accepted, as I am trying to encourage people who haven't yet donated. 😊
Details: Name: Stained Glass. Size: 55"x55" Made from quality cotton quilting fabrics, and 💯% cotton Warm and Plush batting. #quiltsforharvey#quilt#quilting#quilted#quiltswithfeet

I’m very excited to share an amazing service project to aid those affected by hurricane Harvey. My heart & hands have wanted to help those in need - So, after much prayer & research I discovered the non-profit group @fostervillageaustin They are helping to coordinate goods & services needed to assist the many foster children displaced by the storm. As some of you know, I am adopted and spent time in foster care, so this deeply touches my heart. These children have seen a lot of loss.
The womens service group at my church will be meeting on September 20th at 7pm (1000 Shell blvd in Foster City) to help make tie-quilts, or what I’m calling “comfort quilts” to send to the sweet children in Texas. If you’re local, we’d love your help. No need to be a member of our faith to join in! Just bring a heart full of love and we’ll show you the rest. If you’re not able to make it or not in the area, but are interested in supporting the cause, please message me and we can talk details. The more material and batting we have, the more children will be wrapped in love!
Also, prayers for all those suffering from the many natural disasters around the globe are an incredible way to help. Please consider saying a prayer to ease the pain & loss around the world. .
Thanks for reading this long post. Much love to you all!!! .
I don't swear. I don't even LIKE swear words. But sometimes, I almost wish I did. Like when I'm free-motion quilting. I HATE FREE-MOTION QUILTING!!!!!!! I keep thinking it'll get easier with practice but so far I.Still.Hate it. If I allowed myself to swear while free motion quilting, I tell you, even sailors would be appalled. I just keep telling myself it's for a good cause, it's for a good cause, it's for....... #quiltsforharvey
Hello everyone! I found out that my ship is deploying in less than 30 days for 6 months. I need as much help as possible for this endeavor, if you can piece, quilt, bind, please let me know so I can send kits. I will be leaving in mid-October and my good friend, @mel_is_a_swapaholic will be helping me out, but she is in the middle of #quiltsforharvey so I want this to move as smoothly as I can for her. Please let me know how you can help! Thank you! #heartsforussfitzgerald#heartsformccain#quiltsofinstagram#craftyfriendsarethebestfriends
And then there were two... my mom made the larger top and never finished it so she sent it to me a few years ago. Finally finished it, and with the rest of the scraps she sent I made the baby one and backed both of them. They just need binding and then they'll be on their way to Texas! #QuiltsforHarvey and I'm nervously watching #hurricaneirma about to batter my home state... My mom took my sister and I out of FL for AZ after #hurricaneandrew in '92... stay safe FL friends and fam! #hurricaneandrewsurvivor
I finished a PRICELESS project today after days of work, 28 different fabrics, 15 1/2 yards, 8,060" of binding (223.8 yards in total). As I made them, I thought about the 28 quilts that they would be used on and the 28 Hurricane Harvey families that would receive them. Hopefully, they will know the love that went into each one. @mel_is_a_swapaholic #QuiltsforHarvey
My LQS is collecting quilts for Hurricane Harvey relief. I used the AMH fibs and fables/solids bundle I won from @rockpaperscissorsnj to whip up this quick quilt. I hope it brings someone a little comfort. #sewspecialquilts#quiltsforharvey
@hibiscusblossomquilts shared a tip (via @crafty cop ) See it here? Worked like a charm! Thanks to a caring, sharing community! A tip from the queen of #bluerkblocks being used on a project for #QuiltsforHarvey @mel_is_a_swapaholic Sweet! 💙💚💜
Three finished #quiltsforgood for donation to @thelinusconnection, featured in today's #talktometuesday . Last week was fast and furious finishes for our ongoing #quiltsforharvey collection. Over 200 donationed quilts and blankets have already gone out to kids affected by the hurricane via Austin Disaster Relief Network. #adrn
Obviously I had to get it. You should, too! #texasgirl#texanforever#hurricaneharvey#Repost @quietplay (@get_repost)
You guys are so awesome! There have been over 100 copies of the geo Texas pattern sold so far! And I've seen a few blocks show up already!
You can get this pattern in my Craftsy store ( link in profile or search geometric Texas) and all proceeds will be going to a charity that directly supports those in need in Texas. I'll be covering the fees PayPal takes out as my own donation, so the full $3.50 for each pattern will go to charity. I'll have this pattern available until Saturday 9th and send the donation on the weekend. So go get yours now and tell your friends!
the above is my version I made when testing the pattern - made from scraps of one of my favourite colours by one of my favourite designers @alisonglass 😉
