These big fellas were the best welcome party for my arrival at Elk Prairie Campground on Tuesday evening. I don't think I've ever seen elk that close before. It never gets old to see creatures, large and small, in their natural habitat. At least I was by myself in the car so I didn't embarrass anyone with my giddy antics and photo snapping. Not that I care anyway. Ya gotta savor the moment!
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth

I had this beautiful sentiment typed out... and then it disappeared and I can’t quite recreate it which is so frustrating.. so here is the best I could do.
I’m not sure that this is my photo, and if I’m being honest I would even bet that it isn’t.
But, I stumbled upon it on my phone today, and it’s really too beautiful, not to share.
This was taken sometime during our never-ending ascent up Aasgard, looking back on Colchuck Lake and our progress up the Pass thus far.
You see, while my hiking companions may have been enjoying the views, I was somewhere just ahead, shedding my first of many trail tears, during our trip.
I have a hard time believing that in-between my desperate sobs and begging for shelter from the whipping winds, I had the time or energy to turn around and appreciate any of this.
So thank you @ordreamer for inviting me on this wild adventure, putting up with my trail meltdowns, and capturing the beauty in the chaos.
I’m still wondering if it was all a dream?
📸: presumably @ordreamer 😉
Changed the fluids today before our trip to portland next month. Also switched things up with our awning/roof set up. Having a crystal lite and a 2” lift made getting to the cargo basket pretty unrealistic. And I didn’t love the idea of extra weight on the roof or the look of the awning sticking out from the cross bars. So I ordered an arb awning bracket from @northwesty and crossed my fingers hoping it would work. After a little bit of grinding to get the lip of the bracket to rest in the gutter I think we got it. Took a lot of repositioning to find a good place for the brackets but I think this works best. Less window overlap. Ideally I would have one more bracket for he rear of the awning or even better a half width one so there’s no window overlap. But I think this will work just fine for now. Also looks much better than before.

I’ve been in Thailand for a month and have rambled about a bunch of different experiences on my blog. The link is in my bio if you’re interested in following along.
